Monkey Hut is the only place a self-respecting coffee drinker gets their caffeine hit around the cairns base hospital. Really delicious coffee! Plus The staff are lovely and upbeat. Price is cheap for a barista-made cup, especially if you bring your own reusable mug or pre-purchase 5 coffees. They don't charge extra for variations like milk alternatives, mocha, or iced espresso. What User doesn't like about The Monkey Hut:
After spending $18.00 on 2 coffees and a savoy slice, both coffees where undrinkable and slice petty for the $8 cost. They lady serving and making coffees clearly needed an extra staff member, as the wait was longer then it needed to be. Extremely ripped off and disappointed on the level of service. Amazing coffee and friendly staff! They keep Cairns Hospital energized with their delicious brew. They also bring in fantastic cakes. I highly recommend this place.
Located across from Cairns hospital and hidden by trees, this coffee stand is a popular spot for healthcare workers. They offer good coffee at great prices and allow customers to pre-pay for multiple coffees. They also have a variety of biscuits and bliss balls, including gluten-free and vegan options. The melting moments are highly recommended. A great choice for anyone in or around the hospital area.
I work at Cairns Hospital this amazing little hut opposite the hospital on the ground floor of the Red Cross building with its bubbly, friendly skilled barista staff, tasty treats to snack on incredible coffee is my the entire hospital staffs) caffeine savior!
Neat local cafe/coffee shop. I had a coffee and a treat and both were good. prices about right not out of line with the area. very funky decor a neat place to go if you need a cup of coffee
Do not underestimate this small coffee hut in a shipping container, it is amazing. The staff at Cairns Hospital all know that the best coffee can be found right outside the Red Cross Accommodation on the corner of Grove and Lake Streets. The service is excellent - if you are a regular customer, they will remember your name and your usual order. The coffee is delicious, almost like there is a hint of liqueur in it. Definitely worth a visit, and their main shop is The Flying Monkey café on Sheridan Street (opposite Cairns State High School). Dan and Brittany are the best!
