Marinades Indian Restaurant - Cairns

Great food, menu has clearly labeled vegan and food sensitivity options, and the staff were lovely, well informed, and helpful. I really can’t ask for much more in an eating out experience.

A big fan of Indian, and with a specific vegan menu, we had a choice of lots of options and flavours. Many of the dishes were also marked gluten free. We shared two entrees and one main. The potato stuffed chilies were very nice. A couple of wine options were vegan too, however had to check these as they weren’t marked on the menu. A lovely spot for dinner overlooking the Cairns marina.

We went to this restro in evening on 24th Dec. A young lady very kindly, asked us for the order. It was a small order so we just wanted a takeaway as we realise restro Don’t wish to block tables for small orders additionally we wanted to make a reservation for 25th Dec for a nice big fancy dinner. Meanwhile the owner came , said something to his staff in Punjabi than went off. The lady had taken all details down and had put the amount in machine, we were just about to swipe our card when…. Suddenly the owner comes dismisses the lady staff then tells to us that ‘when you come tomorrow be calm and chill unlike today’ . He than went on to repeat this THRICE. I was extremely shocked asked what happened exactly as we just didn’t know when anything wrong happened. Turns out he said to his staff in PUNJABI expected us also to understand that. He had told in Punjabi that he will take our order instead of the lady even though the lady had already completed all our work except payment . The owner is extremely egoistic , arrogant ABUSIVE. Go to this restro only: if you are fluent in PUNJABI have a HUGE ORDER 100 150$ Able to take owner’s abuses if things aren’t going his way I Rarely write a negative review tip quite generously as well to hotel staff , cabbies etc. BUT this was very unprovoked attack on a repeat full paying customer, just because we do not understand PUNJABI. He spoiled our entire holiday mood for the day for no reason !!!

There is a vegan menu with a variety of starters, curries and breads. You just need to specify no butter for the rotis and paratha (naan is not vegan). Super yummy food, and the curries were deceptively filling so had to take food home for takeaway. The place is on the pricier end but we still enjoyed the food.

All curries had very different and distinctive flavours. Best I have had in QLD so far.
