When our curries finally arrived, it was evident that they had been microwaved and the rice was sticking together in a lump. My curry was not hot at all, and after sending it back to be reheated, we had to wait for a considerable amount of time. When the food finally returned, the portion size had increased significantly but the taste was still bland. Overall, we had a terrible experience and paid full price for it. We won't be returning anytime soon.
After hearing all the talk, I decided to check out this pub. Big mistake! I ordered the garlic mushrooms to start, but they were drenched in garlic oil and extremely messy. I've never had such low-quality appetizers. The chicken tikka curry was tasteless and lacked sufficient meat. The cheesecake for dessert was nearly gelatinous. I wouldn't suggest this place or come back again. It's not worth the money and the food is barely edible.
We had a delicious Sunday lunch as a family in November or December (since new owners took over). The variety of meat on the mixed platter was tender and tasty, and the selection of vegetables was excellent. Just be careful when handling the hot gravy in the glass bottle. It was the best Sunday lunch we've had in a long time! Our family of 8 visited in early December and we all enjoyed our meals. The steaks were cooked perfectly, the fish was delicious, and the turkey pie was fantastic. The only feedback I have is that the pasta carbonara and chicken coujons were a bit too spicy for our little one. It would be helpful if they were made less spicy or with less pepper. Our 6-year-old still enjoyed his meal though! We also missed having garlic bread on the menu, it could be a nice addition. The desserts were tasty and the children loved the hot chocolate with marshmallows. The service from the two female servers was excellent, they checked on us frequently and made us feel very welcome. The gentleman on duty was also friendly and attentive, and he quickly cleaned up when our grandson spilled his drink. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. This restaurant is very popular in the area, so be sure to book in advance, especially for Sunday lunch. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
Just back from a lovely Sunday lunch. Two had Turky and I had the brisket of beef, that was lovely. Lots of different accompaniments the say for each meal. Came with roasts and a lovely tasty mash. Generous portions of baked honey roast vegetables and a cauliflower cheese for the table. A lovely gravy and everything tasty! Staff all young part timers, but service was polite and attentive throughout. A lovely leisurely Sunday lunch, would recommend and we will be going back
After hearing that the pub was under new management I thought we would give it a try,We were seated next to the ladies toilet I question if this table is legal under the Health and safety act the table partially blocked access to the toilet I question is this about increasing seating coming up to Christmas over health and safety .We had to put our coats back on due the draft every time someone opened the main door.Food I ordered the lamb and mint pie with chips and peas the pie filling was tasty and the gravy was nice the pie lid tasted stale straight out of the freezer the portion were also small. My partner is a vegetarian and didn’t want curry mushrooms or a pasta dish so she had the sharing Welsh baked cheese starter has her main this was a sharing starter for over £14 we a maximum 5 inch diameter cheese 2 slices of Bread and butter and a red onion chutney this was exceptional poor value. We had2 different desserts which we had to wait 30 minutes for, most probably waiting for them to defrost both very under whelming one of these came on a chipped plate.Whilst paying we did complain to the waitress and a waiter earlier on in the night. To sum it up poor environment food is not freshly made I would say most of it came out of the freezer and reheated small portions and not good value.
