What more can I say than that Carlotta is an excellent restaurant with a varied menu and delicious, flavorful dishes. The interior is elegant and refined, immediately reminiscent of the grand Parisian establishment Bofinger. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're passing through Caen and looking to enjoy a wonderful culinary experience with family and/or friends.
We managed to book a table for five at the last minute, and the very friendly manager was happy to accommodate my request for a round table (we were celebrating an event). The service was impeccable. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, we never felt our voices were drowned out by the surrounding conversations. And most importantly: the food was delicious; from the incredibly fresh oysters to the homemade vegetable fricassee, the calf's liver with its caramelized onions, and… the homemade profiteroles with Valrhona chocolate poured tableside, whose crispy choux pastries were a delight. Truly, a very welcoming spot overlooking a lively square on Saturday nights – highly recommended!
Beautiful atmosphere and very welcoming! Food was amazing and would highly recommend for coeliac disease!
A truly special meal at Le Carlotta. We came to share a dinner in memory of my grandfather, who recently passed, and were welcomed with extraordinary warmth and care by the owner. A small thing that meant a lot: we had asked for a round table so the family could share the meal properly, and she went out of her way to make it happen, even moving guests who had originally booked it but didn't mind the change. That kind of effort, on a busy evening, says everything about how this place is run. The food was beautiful and delicious, and as a baker myself, I deeply appreciated that everything is homemade. Nothing frozen, nothing bought in. We all ordered the profiteroles. One of my grandfather's favourite desserts, and a symbolic choice for the evening. The owner told us the choux had been made fresh that morning by her husband, and the dessert was finished tableside: a small metal jug of hot melted chocolate, poured over the profiteroles in front of us. Genuinely chic, genuinely luxurious, the kind of service you rarely see anymore. She also gifted me the beautiful glass water bottle from our table after I admired it. That kind of generosity stays with you. I highly recommend this restaurant, and would come again if I come back in Caen.
