The Rivers Eatery
Description
Tucked in Cable’s Northwoods, this wood‑fired pizzeria serves adventurous, well‑balanced gourmet pies, crisp bread with marinara and pesto, fresh salads and a strong local beer list in a lively, rustic space with outdoor seating, live music and a charming gift shop. Diners praise creative toppings and friendly service, though expect occasional long waits, noisy crowds, inconsistent portioning and a hit‑or‑miss gluten‑free crust. Overall it’s a beloved, casual stop for adventurous eaters and beer lovers seeking distinctive, high‑quality pizza up north.

Come for a pint, stay for a pizza! Great slice of Cable in the summer time and an easy place to rest with the family. Can be a little busy on the weekends but otherwise always an enjoyable experience.
We love coming here. Every pizza is excellent! Our usual order is a Nemadji and a Marengo. The Nemadji is so unique. The Thai peanut sauce is a very flavorful, balanced sauce. The cranberry chicken is perfectly tender with a hint or tart sweetness. The feta adds a briney sharpness and peas add a perfectly sweet popping sensation. I would never order this anywhere else, but you must try it here! My wife loves the Marengo pizza. The barbecue sauce is sweet and zesty, the ground beef has a nice caramelization on it, the mushrooms add an earthy meatyness, and the blue cheese takes it to the next level. Honestly all of their pizzas and salads are so good. If you're looking for a really good starter here, the bread and dipping sauce is really good. The bread has a crispy crust and is so pillowy on the inside, and it comes with their marinara and a scoop of pesto, so good. Their toasted potato salad is also excellent. It's unlike any potato salad I've ever had. It's definitely a must stop place!
The person creating the recipes here is truly doing an outstanding job; everything is well-balanced and delicious. It's a nice touch that they cook their pizzas using a real fire! The atmosphere is fantastic, the service is friendly, the food is fabulous, and the menu is very creative. We sat outside on a perfect evening, enjoying our meal while listening to live music in the Northwoods. What more could one ask for? I will definitely be back!
The restaurant has a fun atmosphere, but the experience was marred by a few issues. First, we had to wait in line to order our food and drinks, and then we struggled to find a clean table. We were hesitant to leave the suggested tip, as I typically don't tip at fast-food places like Dairy Queen or McDonald’s. While I understand the appeal of a wood-fired pizza oven, waiting 45 minutes for our order felt excessive. Additionally, there were very few toppings considering the price. Our bill for two pizzas and two beers was $45, and to make matters worse, one of the beers was cold while the other was not. As for parking, it's available on the street with a sidewalk.
