Loved it! We sat at the bar, which was lovely and comfortable. We both order the specialists; halibut with couscous and the steak and potato wedges. For dessert we had the carrot cake. Good selection of local craft beer and an interesting secocktails. We will be back! Yup, we came back and it did not disappoint! Returned with my 21yo daughter and she loved the atmosphere, as well as the amazing menu options! Still have not tried everything on the menu, so we will be back. Tuesday-Thursday nights are less crowded and easier to get in without a wait, otherwise it's tough finding a
This spot is a gem in the area. Pre Covid we would frequent often. They have a comfortable bar, great beer list and the cheese plate may be one of the best kept secrets in the state. It's Portland creativity and quality without the stuffy pretense and a heck of a shorter drive from home. We white knuckled off and on about losing them the last year and were thrilled that they not only seem to be making it in Covid world, but I swear their food has gotten even better. The takeout presentation is beautiful, we got it to go and sat on their lovely deck. They always have a vegetarian option and tonight's chicken fried tofu was on point! Bonus for the amazing squash soup for also being vegetarian. Partner said smoked chicken hand pies were to die for. Give them a shot, you won't be disappointed!
Back home in Maine during a difficult time and my cousins decided to treat me to a wonderful dinner. And it was. This quaint old Cape Cod home is repurposed for a wonderful restaurant. It has a casual ambiance but the food is top notch! I 've heard they run the smoker from early morning and allow those delicious juices to work their miracles. My photos show the variety of offerings and each one was as good as the next! Brisket, steak, pulled-pork, and, for me, the duck! We started with a wonderful poutine which had so much brisket on it .. well .. suffice it to say that it was an extra-ordinary poutine! Drinks were well-made and not skimped upon. Dessert was nice, but for us, not the highlight. If you are craving delicious, tender meats .. this is a wonderful place to go! Next time I am in Maine, it will not be because of a tragic moment, but I will be celebrating time back home .. and I hope to get back to Buxton Common! (common ', cousins, invite me again!
Stopped by and ordered a Cuban again and my previous review stands. The sandwich is The Bomb .
This review took time and thought. My biggest issue with this local establishment was them having a gluten free menu that is not gluten free. When someone chooses to be gluten free this menu would be ok I guess but when you HAVE to be gluten free because of an auto immune disease this menu is NOT an option. This restaurant clearly needs to do their homework when it comes to letting the consumers choose off their menu. A lot of cross contamination. You should not put Fried chicken or even French fries on the Gluten free menu for one French fries that should be considered GF should have a separate fryer not the same fryer they fry everything containing gluten in. Also do not place salad dressings as gluten free if you are offering a malt salad dressing... full of gluten. My best friend had to kept going back and forth between the gluten free and regular menu so should could try and decide what might be a safe option for her. Which was not a lot. I ordered the steak and frites. I ordered my steak Medium rare... not even close well done, cool to the touch and a lot of chewing. The frites were delicious. I can't say that we will visit again which is disappointing because it is local and we are all about supporting the small local businesses
