Back home in Maine during a difficult time and my cousins decided to treat me to a wonderful dinner. And it was. This quaint old Cape Cod home is repurposed for... read more Back home in Maine during a difficult time and my cousins decided to treat me to a wonderful dinner. And it was. This quaint old Cape Cod home is repurposed for a wonderful restaurant. It has a casual ambiance but the food is top notch! I 've heard they run the smoker from early morning and allow those delicious juices to work their miracles. My photos show the variety of offerings and each one was as good as the next! Brisket, steak, pulled-pork, and, for me, the duck! We started with a wonderful poutine which had so much brisket on it .. well .. suffice it to say that it was an extra-ordinary poutine! Drinks were well-made and not skimped upon. Dessert was nice, but for us, not the highlight. If you are craving delicious, tender meats .. this is a wonderful place to go! Next time I am in Maine, it will not be because of a tragic moment, but I will be celebrating time back home .. and I hope to get back to Buxton Common! (common ', cousins, invite me again!

That the building has been stylishly... read more It's so nice to have a place making really good food that is also conveniently located for those of us out in the suburbs. That the building has been stylishly and comfortably renovated and the menu offers a wide range of BBQ, southern inspired foods,all sorts of tasty bar snacks, plus boards makes this place extra special! We've been twice now and both times really hit the spot, on our first visit we enjoy the smoked fish board with cocktails and snacks and on our second visit we did a full sit down meal. Both times were delicious. This restaurant makes hearty food full of flavor and slow cooked with love! I especially loved the hush puppies with maple syrup for dipping, the board with it delicious fish and pickles, the deviled eggs,and the Moxie Pork shoulders oh so very good!! I only hesitated writing a review because A they really are still very new and all restaurants need time to work out the kinks and B because this spot is already so popular that if you want a table you must be flexible to nab a reservation! Fortunately there is seating at the bar to handle walk in traffic. My only advice is that weeknights are a little easier to find space at the bar and that this new spot is worth the effort to get in!

Max Brody, the chef/owner really thinks outside the same old same old box and puts together a great menu along with daily specials. Think Portland, ME or Boston, MA *think Locke-Ober, sadly closed now* quality of food with Buxton, ME prices. In addition to his responsibilities to the restaurant, Max is continuously doing more than his fair share to help out the community. The ongoing COVID-19 situation has plenty of people anxious and Max steps up whenever he can. Papas Rellenas (fried potato fritters stuffed with smoked meat cheese) served with a generous side of real maple syrup. Yes,please!

Although I have not had the pleasure of eati... read more The Buxton Common is a hidden gem here in town, nestled behind Truechoice FCU at the intersection of Routes 202 22. Although I have not had the pleasure of eating here inside, The Buxton Common has continually given back to their community. Last Saturday night they deliver full meals the the Police and Fire Departments. Whether it is the pork Fisk or fish dish, all of it is delicious and can tell it's made with love. Thank you for choosing Buxton to set roots and feeding your first responders, residents, family and friends!
