Holy cow, this place was sad and super gross! The advertised buffet was a wilted old heap of iceburg and carrots, overpriced collagualted hot taco barand nasty from the costco can refried beans! And 8.99? Geez this was our big mistake! We didn't look at the buffet first. My kids even made comments and looked at me like, uh mom are we supposed to eat this?? Also, most if the staff just sat around chatting or acting like they might hAve to get up if needed. I only saw the cook seems to care or act like he cared about getting food out with a smile. I think if tha fella had better fresh ingredients he would have a chance at being a better cook. Don't Eat Here!!!
I would not recommend this restaurant! The enchilada was filled with bland ground beef, and there was a serious lack of flavor in the rice, beans, and even the sauce. Honestly, I would have been better off going to Taco Bell next door! I mentioned to the waitress that I needed to catch a bus at 1:15, but by 1:05, I had to track her down to ask about my food. It seemed like my meal had just been sitting under the heat lamp, and with only four tables occupied, she shouldn't have been overwhelmed. After being sick on the bus, I was really looking forward to a meal, but instead, I waited an additional two hours for something that barely resembled food. By the time I finally received it, it was so cold and unappetizing that I couldn't even eat it. What a disappointing experience!
The Country Pride Restaurant may not be fine dining, but it’s a decent choice. They have a fresh salad bar with soup and various other options—the salad fixings are quite nice. The buffet is priced at $10.95. I decided to try the $11.99 dinner New York Strip, which comes with access to the salad bar. The steak was acceptable, comparable to what you’d find at Denny’s. The service was good, and the restrooms were clean. An Exxon station is conveniently located right at the front door, and it’s easy to get back onto Interstate 5 within 200 yards. Just remember, you're in Buttonwillow—not much more can be expected. During our visit, two buses also made a stop there.
Country Pride is situated right next to Taco Bell. My boyfriend and I stopped by on our way to San Francisco, arriving just after 10 a.m. The breakfast buffet was priced at $8.95 and included a variety of options like eggs, sausage, bologna, bacon, fruits, and oatmeal. There were only a handful of customers present during our visit. The service was decent, but the food was just a bit below average.
This place is surprisingly good for a truck stop diner. You'll be hard-pressed to find another salad bar within 50 miles. It offers all the typical salad ingredients a vegan might desire, though don't expect the freshest or organic options. You'll find beans, corn, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, beets, and broccoli, among others. They also serve soup, bread, and fruit. It's an all-you-can-eat deal for just $7.95.
