We are visiting from out of town and fondly remember Seibel's restaurant from 24 years ago when we lived here. My husband and I had a fantastic breakfast yesterday, so we returned today with relatives for a delightful birthday brunch celebration. Our server, Debbie, was exceptional both days. The restaurant is taking Covid-19 precautions seriously, which is greatly appreciated by the immunocompromised members of our party. The food is just as good, if not better, than we remembered. They offer standard breakfast options, but when the birthday boy requested steamed clams at 11:30 am, they happily obliged. There are also excellent choices for specialized diets, whether low carb, low fat, gluten-free, and more. The coffee is hot, delicious, and served freshly brewed in a carafe for the table. We shared our positive experience with other relatives in the area, and they are eager to visit as well. It's heartening to see that this classic restaurant, which has been around since the days the Amish market was across the street, has thrived over the years, especially during the pandemic. I truly hope they continue to prosper for our future visits to this area!
We both ordered The Regular Breakfast, which includes 2 eggs, a choice of meat, a side, and bread. I had my eggs cooked over easy, along with well-done home fries with onions and bacon, served with an English muffin. My wife opted for the same, but she had the homemade sausage, which is made from her father's recipe and is possibly the best sausage I’ve ever tasted. While my breakfast was enjoyable, I felt the potatoes could have been crispier. I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m being harsh because I truly love this place, but I strive for honesty in my reviews. When the waitress brought our meal, I noticed that all the little containers of margarine were open. When I pointed it out, she replied that they came that way, which I found unacceptable; they shouldn't have been served to us like that. However, she did provide me with new ones. Overall, the food is really good, made fresh to order, and it's quite affordable.
I had heard only positive things about this restaurant and had been eager to try it out several times. Finally, I decided to order takeout. I got the BLT ($9) on sourdough and the shrimp Po’ Boy ($11). I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the boxes—these were the saddest sandwiches I've ever seen. The lettuce was wilted and turned white, and the shrimp was particularly disappointing. Given the prices and the restaurant's reputation, I expected much better. I will definitely not be going back.
The turkey and stuffing are fantastic. The fresh potato chips paired with the French onion dip are also delightful.
