Came here for initially just a weekend lunch and loved it so much that I came here to eat two days in a row! There are few other Korean restaurants in Burke (normally they 're in Annandale Centreville) so this is nice to see in the neighborhood. There is ample dine in space, as well as a few outdoor tables. A few of the indoor tables have built in BBQ grills and vent hoods. The Banchan side dishes (included) these are quite delicious here, the kimchi tastes strong *Godeunguh Soup: Grilled Mackerel. Fresh tasting, not smelly , and comes with choices of several soups included (we chose kimchi jigae). Excellent value for the price. *Kimchi Jigae: I have to say the soups here are quite powerful, strong flavored, and authentic tasting. They do not water the flavor down for non Korean customers so I appreciate. *Godeunguh Mujorim: Braised Mackerel with Radish. It 's definitely recommended for people who appreciate more authentic food and not for beginners. This is a simmered dish that isn 't overly brothy. I expected the sauce to be spicy but it 's not it 's just really savory and flavorful. You need to be okay with bone in fish because that 's how the mackerel is served traditional style, however the bones are generally easy to remove and the flavor is guaranteed delicious this way. Texture of the fish is perfect well cooked without completely falling apart. Delicious with the two small sides of white rice as part of the dish. *Tang Soo Yook: Deep fried pork with sweet sour sauce. The sauce is light fruity with either pear or apple pieces, and it 's served on the side of the pork so you can either dip the pork in the sauce or mix it yourself. Delicious but this dish in general is a tad basic for my liking no fault of the restaurant. Quite appropriate for beginners to order though. I will admit the food takes a while to come out and they deliver the banchan with the main entrees unlike many other local Korean restaurants which serve the banchan as appetizers ahead of the entrees. But the service is very friendly warm, and the food makes everything worth it. In terms of preserving authenticity I do think this place puts competitors in Annandale to shame. I 'll definitely be back to try out the BBQ and other dishes.
It was my sister's birthday and she is ALL about supporting small businesses. We, as a family, had been craving some Korean BBQ and were gonna go to Honey Pig originally my sister changed her mind last minute to go somewhere where it was authentic, and not as well known, in order to support small businesses. The ambiance was homey as we walked in; you could tell some locals were in there cutting up with the staff. They knew each other well. Staff sat us immediately, far from everyone else, so social distancing was definitely enforced. We ordered some Soju and ordered some orange beef and pork as our meat and MAN they were both really good, but the beef won out. It was so good that we got a second round (sorry not sorry). The ingredients were fresh and not so condiment ed. My only other experience with Korean BBQ A) i wasn't too hungry and B) it was too heavy on the seasoning for all the sides so, it wasn't my favorite. This really changed my perspective. I will definitely be back again. ALSO my mom, being a mom, told our waitress that it was my sisters birthday and to give her a little something, at the end, she gave us a FREE ROUND OF DUMPLINGS!!!! omg we were so stuffed but it was such a good touch. Perfect crispiness.
I started ordering from here regularly during covid when they popped up in my Doordash option. I love the wide variety of Korean food they offer on their menu. I've ordered their stews and bbqs a few times and have never been disappointed. My favorite part is all the side dishes that come with the order! Give them a try!
After reading the reviews I decided to give this local restaurant a try. I expected some modifications since it was a delivery, but this totally surprised and disappointed me. What I expected was an assortment of vegetables for bibimbap, but what I received was lettuce. Essentially I ordered 2 servings of chicken and lettuce. I also ordered Galbi Tang. The broth was very flavorful, but I mostly received what appeared to be hunks of fat, bones, and hardly any meat. I'm wondering if this is a you have to eat there restaurant to get the good stuff. I'm not sure I'm willing to try at this time.
A hidden gem in Burke; especially when it 's hard to find great Korean restaurants outside of Centreville/Annandale. I come here weekly with my parents. As first generation Koreans who are extremely picky about their Korean food, they have given their stamp of approval on authenticity, cleanliness, and taste. The KBBQ is phenomenal particularly the galbi and samgyupsal (pork belly . If you don 't want to grill it yourself and want them to do it on the side (to avoid the inevitable oil splatters , they bring a separate hotplate and will grill it on the side and serve it to you hot. However, the shining star is the BOSSAM braised pork belly. It is so flavorful and melt in your mouth tender; a lot of korean restaurants have this on the menu but this is the first restaurant where it tastes like there was SO much care put into this seemingly simple (but actually complicated dish. They also have a number of korean/chinese dishes like jjajangmyun, tangsooyook, which have all been great for a quick lunch. The owner is super sweet and the servers have all been quick and pleasant. They 've been great about accommodating my toddler daughter and even entertaining her when she gets fussy during our meal! (i usually don 't comment on other reviews but the suspicion from the reviewer below that a korean restaurant would recycle their sides is pretty serious allegation to throw out there and is not based on fact. most korean restaurants would not allow you to take the banchan (complementary sides home because they are meant to be eaten with the meal. it 's free. just eat it or leave it.
