This is probably the best Italian food I have ever eaten! Delicious pasta, chicken parmesan, and their signature spaghetti dish is a must. Highly recommend!

Buffalo has SO many amazing, authentic Italian restaurants. I understand Chef's is a local landmark, kind of like Anchor bar is to wings... but I'm telling you just like AB, if you're an out of towner, don't get pulled in by the hype. The sauce is bland and just not flavorful. It's really banquet style Italian. Mulberry and San Marco are much more authentic with truly high quality food that's made with care.

Was looking for Italian near our hotel and came across this gem. Our server was great. She described the portion sizes perfectly, so I had just the right amount of the spaghetti parm. The bread and dipping oil/spices were great, too. Enjoyed it very much.

I understand this is a local landmark. We were from out of town and friends said we just had to go there, right? But honestly, one little meatball with my spaghetti? If it were the big meatball I expected because of all the hype over this place that would be one thing. I was unimpressed. We went to Olive Garden not long after. OK. I get it. It's Olive Garden. But the sauce was excellent and they give you THREE LARGE MEATBALLS! AND unlimited salad and wonderfully soft and flavorful breadsticks! I ended up taking home a whole second meal! Full disclosure: I'm 100% Italian and grew up with a mother making sauce and pasta every Sunday and twice during the week! If she owned Chef's she would offer at least two large meatballs because that's what Italians do! They LOVE having their guests leave full and happy!

I have been here many times but feel it has gone down hill these last few years. The sauce is bland no taste and the meatballs are hard they are not a nice fluffy meaty fall apart meatball. I am a fan off their pesto for the bread and the bread is always fresh but the food in general is just blahhh in my opinion. Plus we noticed this last time that the portions are way smaller and the prices went up quite a bit. I know this place is a staple in the Buffalo community for many years but not one of my favorites by any means....there are way better tasting sauces in other Buffalo pasta places. I assume alot of people continue to come here because it is the staple in Buffalo. If I had company coming in from another city or state this would not be the place I recemmend for Italian food There is alot of seating which is good so usually not a long wait but food has to be good also.
