I remember when this place opened several years ago, led by acclaimed local chef Donato De Santis. It used to be a reference point for new age Italian flavors, trendy decor and superior service. However, things have evolved quite for the worse, so much so that the dining experience here can only be rated as significantly below par. The menu options are far from creative, attractive, or innovative. What you get instead, is a menu from 2008, and an execution that is plain and simply appalling. Our appetizer was so bland that we aborted halfway thru. Next came the entrees, one of which we simply sent back (Pasta with Chipirones) and the other one we attempted to eat, but decided instead to just leave it and get our check... Walked over to a different restaurant and started our evening over. I can honestly say this has to rank as one of the most underwhelming culinary experiences we've had. Save yourself some trouble, any of the restaurants on this same city block will give you a better bang for your buck. Avoid!
So we go to this place because the owner used to own a great place for food in canitas (Soul cafe, which is now closed). We get there, see a few couples, families, and a famous retired model is also there which looks promising. We look at the menu and see promisins appetizers, a variety of sandwiches and burgers, and entrees. We ordered the lomo and steak as we were not hungry enough to get an appetizer.Bread was ok. It was warm, and the cheese breadsticks were good but they also served other breadsticks that tasted of smoke. They were burnt. We got an oil/garlic dip which was ok.Meat comes to the table and I am TERRIBLY disappointed. The lomo is cut up in 3 small steaks resemlbling the beef I make for my 1 year old baby. Super thin, and NOT done to order (a punto, pink middle). Completely dry, drenched in butter and I can even say it had been reheated int he microwave.Steak comes in... ALSO cut up! in two wider but still thin very thin pieces. My steak had been cooked to order BUT you could taste it had been defrosted in the microwave. I saw a lot of tables ordering pastas... which is what I should have probably ordered. Terribly disappointed, not going back. The price is above average but food is way below average.
Bruni is one of the newest trendy italian food restaurant. Low number of dishes and high quality is the recipe for it´s success. Classic and well executed dishes as grilled polenta with mushrooms and wonderful stews. One of the best italian restaurants in the city. You can combine lunch in this restaurant with a walk in Palermo´s Park. Wonderful combo.
Bruni has one of the best italian food menu in Buenos Aires. The service is excelent too. It is close to the Palermo Park and Belgrano.
