I found the restaurant closed when I visited at noon. It’s an interesting place; something on the front of the building reminded me of a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album cover. I just had to stop and take a look!

Big lil hometown bar.

I passed by this place several times over the last 15 years, assuming it was an abandoned building. To my surprise, it’s still a functioning bar with Bob as the bartender. Once you overlook the worn-down exterior, you'll find that the drinks are affordable, the service is friendly, and we encountered a great crowd that was on a dive bar tour. While the small TV means it's not the best spot to catch a game, it definitely offers a memorable experience and a unique story to share. Not many bars have been around since 1898!

A historical place, once owned by a ancestor.

As you walk by this spot, you might question whether it’s open. The answer is a resounding YES! It’s the oldest bar in Michigan, and you simply have to go inside. It’s a place you visit not just for the drinks, but for the experience and the stories you'll collect. Just go for it!
