Description

The reviews for Salt Charcoal are mixed. Some diners experienced slow service and menu changes that were disappointing, while others praised the excellent food, drinks, and attentive service. The issue of food allergies was raised by one customer who found the staff to be unsure and inconsistent in their ability to accommodate special dietary needs. Despite some negative experiences, many diners enjoyed the delicious dishes such as the wagyu tartar, lamb, and New York strip. The intimate ambiance and personalized service were also highlighted as positive aspects of the restaurant. Overall, it seems that Salt Charcoal offers a mix of upscale dining experiences, with a focus on quality food and attention to detail.

This place is a gem! Sit at the bar, enjoy the sake, and try something new and exciting! Maru, the bartender, made our evening! He gave a very knowledgeable tour through the sake flight but the wine and cocktail list won’t disappoint either. We started with the “small plate for sake” appetizer, and enjoyed the wagyu sushi, the yuzu wedge salad, and chose the dry aged ribeye and new york strip. Service is very slow. Ordered a second martini when the food arrived, and 20-25 mins later, still did not receive it. Waitress gave an excuse that downstairs is a large party, but frankly for a table of two spending over $400 on a tab, I’d expect a single drink to get out to me in under twenty minutes. This was not a great way to end the night, and the waitress continuously was hard to get a hold of as she’s seemingly manning far too many tables. Nothing done to make it right, other than an excuse and apology. On top of this: 1. Unexplainable credit card fee. Seriously? 2. Extremely loud environment, can’t hear the server and she can’t hear me. Will not return. One done. Price per person: $100+ Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

The food was outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the appetizers and absolutely loved the porterhouse, especially the filet portion. The atmosphere was also wonderful, and my group and I had a fantastic time.

This was the second time dining at Salt Charcoal since an overall pleasant experience for my birthday dinner back in November last year. The same issues that I let slide last time still remained and we had the same server who I assume is the main issue. We have some food allergies and had called prior to make sure that they were flexible and aware how to prepare. The receptionist assured we would be fine and they are accommodating. Back in November we had received food with no modifications and had to sadly send it back although it was beautifully presented. We waited a while again before a new one came out and we thought ok all is good. Fast forward to two nights ago and we have the same waiter. He was still unsure of almost every ingredient in the dishes and was not confident in any answer often saying yes then oh no wait.. yes. At this point we made sure that they could prepare what we had last time. When it came out it was missing several ingredients that are gluten free already... We had to then request that those ingredients that were missing be added back. Again the food is delicious here and I love the presentation. It is just not a fun experience when your service is unsure what to do and doesn 't seek immediate help from the kitchen or other staff. Allergies are no joke and it should be the responsibility of the staff to be aware of what they can and cannot serve their clients.
