Love the pastries! My fave is the sticky bun. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: $1–10
The egg sandwich was fantastic! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $10–20
First; the bread is next level. 6 stars for the bread. And overall this is a good restaurant that’s mostly hits but has a few details I would change. This was almost a 4 for me, but I’m swaying in the 4.5-4.6 direction so full 5 star credit isgranted. The drinks are quite good and the Tepeche is something I haven’t seen before! It’s a mild pineapple kombucha;super tasty. The margarita was also top notch, not overly sweet. These are from a well considered bar. The bread is lifechanging. The butter is perfect. Why have dinner after? Just get a loaf. In all seriousness it was a generous portion of amazingsourdough and it changed my life and became my friend for just a moment. The melon is far too simple of a dish and needs to beportioned differently and come with some other flavors in tow. It’s just a slice of cantaloupe and salt; so this was a letdown after the divine bread. We found the burger and desert to be spectacular that’s strawberries and cream , although thecream leans into feeling a bit oily and the dish could have been slightly colder. The steak was another slight miss. It wasgood but for the price point $40+ , I need to see something really amazing to not feel out of sync here. Meat was slightly dry, could have been more tender. Nothing much to say about its flavor and it wanted to be part of the sauce but was plated oddly andseparately… sort of inviting you not to mix them. The accompaniments were ok, a little too much salt forward-ness in themushroom marmalade. But it was tasty overall: would rather have had 2 burgers. Fries were on point and well cooked. A lot ofunique savory notes in the burger that put it a cut above competitors. I know it feels like I’m roasting this place, butI’ve been to restaurants at every price so I have hundreds of points of context for this review. It’s a top 50 in Brooklyn, brunch is awesome here apparently, but it’s not in my top 10-20, roughly. Anyway; that’s the review. Thanks for reading!Enjoy!
Extremely quaint neighborhood spot with both classics and inventive menu items. Perfect vibe for a date or dinner with friends. Had the kanpachi crudo on a recent visit and that’s not to be missed!
I've given this place a couple of tries for breakfast and dinner and have some thoughts to share on my experiences. Their coffee and pastries are great, I will continue going to the bakery for those every now and again, but my recent visits with therestaurant itself were subpar. The breakfast I had was a disappointment. I had ordered it before, months ago, and didn't reallycare for it much then, but decided to go with it again in hopes that maybe it had changed. I got the Deluxe Breakfast, which is2 eggs, crispy potatoes, toast, and a side. The eggs were okay, but the potatoes were just way too dry and bland. They were notenjoyable to ingest. Toast was ok and the sides we chose (avocado and bacon) were fine. But for $16, I make a way betterbreakfast at home. The egg sandwich however, is great! I have had that a couple times and have never been disappointed. Thenfor dinner, everything my friend and I had ordered was overly salty. That included the chicken liver mousse, and then a chickendish and a fried chicken sandwich which I don't believe are on their current menu. The oysters were OK. We weren't impressedwith the anchovy toast the fish to bread ratio was off. The atmosphere in the restaurant is GREAT and if you're just goingfor oysters and drinks, it's definitely a cute spot to hang out in. I haven't tried everything on their menus (clearly) so maybesome other dishes are good, but I just wanted to write this review in hopes that maybe these things can be taken into accountfor improvement.
