James - Brooklyn
James
Description
The restaurant James used to be a go-to spot for many with delicious meals in a beautiful space, but recent reviews suggest the experience has gone downhill. Multiple diners reported disappointing dishes, rushed timing, and even finding plastic in their food. Some specific dishes like the cornmeal dusted skate were criticized for being overly salty and lacking in flavor. However, there were still positive reviews, with some highlighting the delicious skate fish dish, standout burger and steak, and the amazing lemon ricotta pancakes for brunch. Overall, James is commended for its quality food, friendly service, and comfortable outdoor seating, making it a neighborhood favorite despite some mixed reviews on recent experiences.

One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood! Have been there for brunch and dinner. Crispy eggs with the potato roesti is immaculate. James make vegetables exciting! Order everything family style or bust!
I would recommend a James for brunch! I haven't been for dinner, but I had an amazing brunch on Sunday with a friend. Lemon ricotta pancakes are AMAZING. **** Marys, crispy eggs, and truffle fries were GREAT!
This place has gone downhill. It used to be such a treat I haven’t been since COVID but I have such fond memories of many delicious meals there in what used to be a beautiful space. I was so excited to go back tonight but every single dish we got was disappointing in some way (lime granita with the oysters that was so frozen it was inedible, skate that was too salty, burrata that was way too salty and somehow off tasting, etc). The timing was rushed so all our food came out when we had no room on the table for what we were eating, and certainly no room for new plates. Hope this was just an off night.
Overall a nice experience. Service, drinks and food were great quality. The summer burger was very substantial. The inside also looked really beautiful and open and clean.
