Feedback
I really wanted to like this place, but it was a little underwhelming. the ambiance is really nice, and I was able to get a reservation a week before dining which was convenient. I ordered the kako seiro noodles, which is sliced duck breast in hot dipping sauce. i got half regular noodles and half of the green noodles (made from bamboo leaf and barley baby leaf powder), and for house made noodles I expected them to be more chewy. The dipping sauce was very salty, but the flavor was good. The duck was also cooked well. The chicken karaage appetizer (spicy soy flavor) was coated with sauce and not super crispy, didn't really live up to the hype. overall, decent noodles but im going to stick with raku
Hanon is such a charming Williamsburg eatery with amazing fresh noodles. ~the service~ Hanon was super busy when we walked in for dinner on a Saturday evening- they were full but were able to accommodate us at the bar, which was nice. They definitely had to turn many people away. (3/5): I understand that they were busy on a weekend night, but it took us an hour to get our food from the time that we ordered (Not to mention an additional 15-20 minutes for our orders to be taken). ~the food~ Seiro Udon (5/5): The noodles were so fresh and chewy, so it was super worth it to get this cold noodle dish despite it being super cold outside. I couldn't really tell the difference between the bamboo leaf noodle and the baby barley leaf noodle, but both were equally springy in texture and a pleasurable experience. I got both the classic and the sesame dipping sauce- both were quite good and honestly I just dipped my noodles into both of them and was a happy trooper.
