Description

Nestled in Williamsburg, this charming udon-focused eatery serves house-made noodles, rich dashi broths, standout eggplant-and-mushroom braises, tempura and karaage with Instagram-ready plating. Many praise chewy cold seiro udon and flavorful curry or beef bowls, though noodle texture and soup temperature can be inconsistent. Outdoor trellis seating adds ambiance, but cramped tables, weekend crowds and slow service mean reservations are wise. Overall a flavorful, cozy neighborhood spot that divides opinion on speed and value.

A culinary delight filled with rich dashi broth, tender beef, and sweet caramelized scallions. The beef is clearly marinated in either sweet soy sauce or mirin, making its delicious presence felt with every bite. And the broth—oh, that broth! It's not just good; it's a harmonious blend of flavors that is both refined and incredibly savory. Imagine enjoying this steaming bowl of aromatic udon, complete with juicy slices of beef, while experiencing a brisk 36°F outside. It's pure bliss! Even though you may no longer be open for business, the remarkable flavors you offered have left such a lasting impression that you certainly deserve high praise.

We ordered the kamoten seiro udon, and it was absolutely delicious—wow! If I could have eaten more, I definitely would have ordered another bowl. The tori no karaage came with five pieces, and while the taste met my expectations, I wasn't sure about the portion size. We also tried the curry udon, and it was yummy. Overall, we had a wonderful experience here and would definitely come back!

I really wanted to like this place, but it was a little underwhelming. the ambiance is really nice, and I was able to get a reservation a week before dining which was convenient. I ordered the kako seiro noodles, which is sliced duck breast in hot dipping sauce. i got half regular noodles and half of the green noodles (made from bamboo leaf and barley baby leaf powder), and for house made noodles I expected them to be more chewy. The dipping sauce was very salty, but the flavor was good. The duck was also cooked well. The chicken karaage appetizer (spicy soy flavor) was coated with sauce and not super crispy, didn't really live up to the hype. overall, decent noodles but im going to stick with raku

Made a reservation and arrived 30 minutes early, we were promptly seated. The plastic barriers that were placed in between each and every table has been removed. I have to admit when eating there, I felt uncomfortable as every table is within 3 feet awayfrom you and they tend to be fully packed even on a Thursday night at 9:30PM. The menu is extensive, I ordered two orders of thenabeyaki udon and the fried chicken appetizer. The fried chicken was soggy which was disappointing. There is a paste that isserved alongside, but I would rather see a sauce since it is difficult to apply a paste to fried chicken. The udon themselvesare a specific type and are not the usual everyone may be familiar with. It has sort of a more sumptuous texture in the sensethat if you squeezed an udon with your lips, it would feel like a snap instead of the usual mush im used to. Almost as if theudon is Al dente, this is a preference for some, but not mine. The service itself is courteous, but can be slow at times. Waterwas never refilled and food was never checked on after serving. Overall, it’s worth trying as it is recognized by Michelin, but not worth a repeat. The crowd appears to be mostly couples or close friends with small parties of 2-3 people average.

Ive heard this place gets really busy but maybe because of the holidays we got lucky and were able to walk in on a friday night. There was staff buzzing around the front but no one said hello or “give us a moment” so we were kind of just chilling therefor 5 minutes looking around. I get it on a busy day but on a slow day? Gave me careless , Ill greet them when Im ready Im onclosing mode already vibe. Regardless, udon was delicious. The vegetarian tomato ramen had the tastiest broth with freshtomatoes and mushrooms. The tempura was amazing. My friend didn’t like how chewy the cold udon noodles were but they areprepared different than the hot udon noodles on purpose we assumed. Decor was very cozy and perfect on a winter day.
