I was excited to try Elberta's delicious-looking menu, but my first experience was a bit stressful. The waitress took 30 minutes to bring our drinks, which arrived staggered. Our food was even delivered to the wrong table and then we were told it was no longer available. When we finally received our food, it was lukewarm at best. If they can improve their service, I would be willing to give their food another try. The devil eggs were not bad though.
Perhaps it was because we were restricted to the Valentine's Day Brunch menu, but I really enjoyed my shrimp and grits. However, my wife found the chicken and waffles to be just okay. It was also my first time trying a Bellini, and I must say I will definitely be ordering it again in the future.
We decided to dine at this restaurant before a concert at Barclay. I informed the waitress multiple times about my time constraints and when I needed to leave. Unfortunately, she was the only waitress working and it took a while for everything to arrive - including the check, wine, and food. There were also errors on the bill that she blamed us for, which took even more time to resolve. As a result, we were unable to leave at the time we had planned.
Oysters and shrimp appetizers were fantastic, like the Snappers and Steak Entrees. Wonderful cocktail selection also! Friendly, relaxed service and ambience, a nice break from some Brooklyn restaurants that often try too hard.
We were a party of 7 and were well attended by the wait staff. The menu was enticing but was poorly executed by the kitchen/chef at every turn. Steak w Bernaise came out with no Bernaise. When the deficiency was pointed out the sauce came out but was a mystery sauce, not Bernaise. Every plate had an issue. Hope the food improves and the place succeeds as it has a great vibe and location.
