### Restaurant Review: A Mixed Bag of Experiences
At this Peruvian eatery, reviews showcase a spectrum of experiences. While some diners rave about the exceptional flavors of dishes like ceviche and rotisserie chicken, others express disappointment with inconsistent service and menu discrepancies. Instances of poor customer relations, such as being charged for cake plates amid a large party, tarnish the overall experience. Despite these shortcomings, many patrons appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, especially during busy occasions. Overall, while the food often stands out, inconsistencies in service and management practices leave some customers hesitant to return.
Was Foodie at Coco Roco a mag?
I really enjoy this restaurant, but during my last visit, they were out of plantain chips. The visit before that, they had run out of rotisserie chicken! Additionally, there are times when their maduros aren't sweet, which is disappointing because it affects the overall satisfaction. If they could get these issues sorted out, their menu would be fantastic. View all feedback.
What OpenTable Diner dislikes about Coco Roco:
This restaurant is currently closed, and I’m frustrated that they didn’t inform OpenTable. I had made a reservation for Saturday, February 16 at 7 PM, and when I arrived, I found the place locked up. Trying to secure a reservation at another restaurant at that hour was quite challenging. I won’t be considering this restaurant when it eventually reopens. Very disappointing customer experience. This restaurant was recommended by a colleague, so since we often grab coffee nearby, we decided to give it a try. The food was pretty good! We particularly enjoyed the empanadas, especially the beef ones, which had a nice kick to them. Ajii de Gallina is one of my favorite traditional Peruvian dishes, and I loved it here as well.
The restaurant felt larger than I remembered: bright, busy, and quite noisy. The service was notably slow for most of the evening; it took a while for our waiter to check on us. Fortunately, we occupied ourselves with two dishes of plantains and sauce while we waited. The menu is diverse, with main dishes averaging in the $20s, featuring seafood, pork, chicken, as well as appetizers and sides. Now, about the rotisserie chicken: the menu listed it as a half chicken for $9.00 but didn’t include any sides. Most sides averaged around $7.00, which struck me as odd. I expected the chicken to come with rice and beans, as my experience at the Boerum Hill location always included sides. I opted for a quarter chicken breast ($7.00) and a warm quinoa side ($7.00). The meal was decent but not remarkable. Aside from the quinoa, I found most of the food to be quite salty, particularly the dipping sauces for the plantains. I didn’t have any drinks this time, but I do recall the cocktails being quite good in the past. Overall, it was just okay.
We also ordered fried sweet plantains and fried yucca as sides. The plantains were fantastic, but unfortunately, the yucca missed the mark; it was quite dry, and we didn't enjoy it at all. One highlight for both of us was their homemade sauce; I could happily consume bowls of it—it's that delicious! Overall, the atmosphere was lively, and the service was commendable. We had a great experience and are definitely looking forward to returning to try more of their classic Peruvian dishes.
We have been coming here for a few years now, this being my SOLID SECOND choice for Peruvian in Brooklyn. Having said that, I do not think I will be back. Here is why: Service was always super slow. I didn't mind because while slow, it was good. Last night it was terrible and all over the place. And slow. And everything (3 appetizers and main course) came out at the same time. The food is just not what it used to be. At all. Like, at this point I would rather go to Pio Pio. How do you mess up ceviche? And yet, here we were. The only redeeming quality still is the atmosphere. I enjoy sitting outside. However, I would not want to pay for a meal there again.
The food here can be good depending on what you order. For appetizers I got a chicken soup which was okay I added some lemon to it which helped a bit with the blandness. For the entree I loved the lomo saltado it was nice and saucy, they also gave a good portion of meat. We had also gotten a half pitcher of sangria. I am not a fan of sangria in general, so I can't give any other input other than to say I disliked it. Anyone know of a good spot? My friend got the steak with eggs (forgot the actual name) this one did not amaze as much as the lomo saltado. The steak was pretty dry and tasted a bit salty. From my many experiences at Coco Roco I can say you should be safe with the lomo saltado, anything else could be a hit or miss. Also another tip, make use of the crayons while waiting for the food a game of tic tac toe or hangman will help pass the time.

When we arrived no one greeted us at the door for our reservation, we were just told to sit down. I was very disappointed that the menu I saw online did not match what was available to order inside the restaurant. When I asked the waitress about those specific items, she told me that it was only available online. When I got my entree, I was very dissatisfied with how dry the rice was and my shrimp lacked the proper seasoning for a Peruvian restaurant. Also the banana chips were stale. Honestly the only thing I enjoyed were the drinks. I don’t plan on returning.

Amazing food at great prices! My favorite dishes are the rotisserie chicken, garlic shrimp, black beans with yellow rice, and the classic mojito. The service is both friendly and quick, making you feel right at home. This is definitely one of my top places to eat!
I had an amazing experience with the delicious Peruvian food at this restaurant. The Ceviche Mixto was exceptional and I wish they sold the juice because it was absolutely out of this world. The Quinoa salad and Sangria were also fantastic. I will definitely be returning here in the future and wish I lived closer! The staff were very friendly, and the service was great all around.
We enjoyed the food, which came in generous and hearty portions. While the dishes were tasty, they lacked the rich savory flavors that I appreciated during my vacation in Peru.
First time trying this place and it was exceptional. I enjoyed my Red Snapper. It was whole but they removed the bones. The staff was courteous and attentive (was not expecting that since I read the previous reviews). I will definitely return to try the other dishes.
Came here earlier today with my girlfriend. The steak skewers, the chicken empanadas, the fried yucca, Peruvian corn, and the sauce were all fantastic. Just spectacular. We both enjoyed our entrees as well, the juevos rancheros and the chicken breast. Really good! The rice and beans offered have a good consistency. Coco Roco is an awesome restaurant!

This restaurant is closed. Why didn't they report open tables? I made a reservation on Saturday, 2/16 at 19 o'clock. when they go to the restaurant and see that it is closed and try to make a reservation with another restaurant, is not an easy offer around 19 clock. I will not try her restaurant when they open again. terrible customer experience.
