We enjoyed the food, which came in generous and hearty portions. While the dishes were tasty, they lacked the rich savory flavors that I appreciated during my vacation in Peru. View all feedback.
What Alena K doesn't like about Coco Roco:
We have been coming here for a few years now, this being my SOLID SECOND choice for Peruvian in Brooklyn. Having said that, I do not think I will be back. Here is why: Service was always super slow. I didn't mind because while slow, it was good. Last night it was terrible and all over the place. And slow. And everything (3 appetizers and main course) came out at the same time. The food is just not what it used to be.... View all feedback.
The food is just not what it used to be. At all. Like, at this point I would rather go to Pio Pio. How do you mess up ceviche? And yet, here we were. The only redeeming quality still is the atmosphere. I enjoy sitting outside. However, I would not want to pay for a meal there again.
The food here can be good depending on what you order. For appetizers I got a chicken soup which was okay I added some lemon to it which helped a bit with the blandness. For the entree I loved the lomo saltado it was nice and saucy, they also gave a good portion of meat. We had also gotten a half pitcher of sangria. I am not a fan of sangria in general, so I can't give any other input other than to say I disliked it. Anyone know of a good spot? My friend got the steak with eggs (forgot the actual name) this one did not amaze as much as the lomo saltado. The steak was pretty dry and tasted a bit salty. From my many experiences at Coco Roco I can say you should be safe with the lomo saltado, anything else could be a hit or miss. Also another tip, make use of the crayons while waiting for the food a game of tic tac toe or hangman will help pass the time.
The food is great and amazing service... I am always happy with the food and that sauce trio to dip my food in is out of this world... Dine in service can be a little slow due to not having enough servers on but always friendly and courteous. The food piping hot, full of flavors that pack so much deliciousness! The mojito is super delicious and worth going for even by itself but I dare you to pass that Peruvian chicken and not order it.... you can't The garlic shrimp scampi appetizer was so delicious you need to put it back on the menu that was my go to appetizer I am going to include pics so you can see what I am talking about!! Overall I have great things to say about this place and will be coming for years to come! Follow them on Instagram: @cocorocobrooklyn and follow me: @thaprofechanel
I wish I could give it 0 star! This review is really a 0 star for their chicken cilantro soup. We always order the chicken with sides, take out. Today, I added the chicken soup because it was so cold out. When I arrived home, I was looking forwards to something hot. I took one spoonful and had to spit it right out. It was so salty! I had my kids try it just to make sure it was not me and they all declined right after the first spoonful. What happened?! Why so much sodium in your soup? Will never order this again! Wish I could get my money back because it went straight to the garbage! The wait was long, too!
This was one of those places where I wasn't sure whether to give 3 stars or 4 but the combination of food and service led me to a solid 3. Lets just begin by saying I came here with a party of 30. When there are 30 ppl to be served things are not going to be easy on the staff. We had a pre-fixe menu which included family style servings of the following: Appetizers: Salad Calamari Empandas Entrees: Steak Paella Salmon Chicken Rice, beans, yuca platanos Now just to be clear everything that we had was fantastic. I left completely stuffed and although I am never a huge fan of family style its always nice to try everything. My only complaint is that there was nowhere near enough steak to go around. Other than that everything else was very good. The price was about $28pp if my memory serves correctly and that included unlimited soda NOT alcohol which was obviously a separate cost. The main server did the best he could but at times I could tell that he was overwhelmed. We had our own cake for the occasion and they wanted to charge us to use their plates. This is where they lost that 1 star. We had spent about $1,600 after food and drinks and couldn't use some plates for cake? Thats where they lost me. So for food yes this place is good but they need to reevaluate how they treat paying customers!
