Best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere, the negroni was a 10 but the labios rojos is a regular mezcalita, a basic drink just a beautiful presentation. The food was real basic mexican food, because of the fame I was expecting a little more. I give the food a 5. We had chilaquiles, tostadas, huarache, esquites and Plato don. Dont have any of them maybe other plates are better. We also had bread pudding it was a 4. Music was good and our server great! Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

Chavela's was amazing! From the moment we walked in the staff was super friendly and professional. We had about 8 people in our party but didn't have to wait for more than 5 minutes to get a table. The drinks were made just right (I had a strawberrymargarita). The food was exceptional! Definitely more of an adult dining experience though. We had 2 girls (10 years old) withus and they didn't seem too excited about anything on the menu. We ended up getting them french toast and quesadillas which theydid enjoy. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Would def go back again.

If you live in Brooklyn you don?t need to go too far for some good Mexican food. Chavela?s is located in crown heights and easily accessible by bus or train. It has become on of my go to places when I need a good meal. There is happy hour from 4-7Monday through Thursday and prices of the the food are pretty reasonable. Depending on the day it can get pretty crowded by thewait is never unbearable. I always start off with the $4 tacos. I tried the Bistec tacos and they were so good, I love that thetortillas were doubled because sometimes the filling of the tacos can make the tortilla soggy. Drinks are pretty good BUT theheight of my meal was the Mole! The give you so much food for only $17. The mole was flavorful, they also include rice and beanas a side and tortillas just in case you want to use that to create mole tacos instead. I will def be coming back and youshould check them out next time you?re in crown heights.
