Barano - Brooklyn
Barano
Description
Located in Williamsburg, this restaurant has received mixed reviews from customers. While some have described the food as average, with complaints about mussels and over-salted broccoli, others have raved about dishes like the creamy Vodka Pizza and aromatic Saffron Gigli. The service has also been a point of contention, with some customers feeling rushed and uncomfortable with the staff, while others have praised the friendly and accommodating service they received. Overall, it seems that this restaurant may be hit or miss, but for those looking for a neighborhood spot for lunch or a romantic date night, it could be worth a try.

Ate here w our kids and had a nice meal. Kids had a buffet designed for them which worked out great and. Ore higher end restaurants should heed this call. $15 each but included lots of choices which kids love as well as deserts and a drink. I had the swordfish which was a bit overdone and a bit tasteless. My wife had the filet which was served over a tomatoe based medley of zucchini and squash which really didn't go with it very well. Read reviews and told side of Russell sprouts was roasted but they arrived steamed and again tasteless. All in the best part of the meal was our excellent waiter. Ate at pacific grille the night before and that meal was a lot tastier.
Ramon's is an awesome waiter with 42 years of experience on the La Costa property!
Lovely interior, with fairly good food. The menu is surprisingly tired (any dish you would expect at an Italian restaurant, nothing particularly creative) but the execution is pretty good. The grandma’s pizza had a delicious crust—crispy outsideand doughy in the middle of the bite. The Malfalde pasta, on the other hand, was average. But there were some specials, and thespecial dessert—chocolate bread pudding—was perfection. A really surprising soft chewy texture that was super delicious. Anda nice grappa made it go down warm and cozy.
Ordered two pizze. Both arrived burned and were mostly oil and dough. One tasted slightly chemically. There was an overall lack of flavor and, well, other ingredients besides bread and oil. In a city with so many options for pizza, I was surprised at howpoor this was. I called Barano and the staff member offered me a full refund, but told me that, while I ordered directly fromtheir website, their delivery runs through Door Dash, so DD has to issue the refund. I’ve now been on the phone for 45minutes with Door Dash and have been transferred to three different people. DD is now telling me I’ll get a call back fromtheir escalation team in 24 hours. So now I have no food, I’m missing $60, and have to spend more time tomorrow with customerservice to hopefully get a refund. I wish Barano would just give me the refund so I can be done with this. Pun intended: Thisleft a terrible taste in my mouth.
