It was worth visiting this Nigerian restaurant. Their food seemed to be really amazing. People were really welcoming and helpful with the orders. So a 10/10 for service. We ordered jolaf rice with jerk chicken and tuna with jolaf rice. The rice wassomething I never tasted. They seasoned it so well and it aas a bit spicy but it was a good kind of spice. You don’t feel itinstantly but after a while it hits you. The seasoning for jerk chicken was also kind of unique. I tried the salmon from myfriend but it kind of had a fishy flavor which didn’t go well with my taste bud.
I was excited about the location of this restaurant as it 's in an otherwise pretty dead zone for food but I would not go back here again. At least, definitely not for lunch. I met someone here for lunch at 12:30 on a Thursday and we were the only onesin the place. We thought great, service will be fast then! No, it took about 30 minutes for them to get us a burger and asteak salad with us being the only diners in the restaurant. There were about 4 staff members milling around the front area, andpresumably some folks in the back making the food. Service was inattentive and surly. The person who seated us did not seemhappy to have to wait on us. I ordered a steak salad with rare steak and my steak was not rare when it arrived. It was aboutmedium, and pretty dry and tough. Additionally, the place reeked of incense smoke which is fine if you like incense but is notgreat for a restaurant if you have clientele that prefers to be able to smell their food over the scent of incense. Afterward,my hair continued to smell like incense at work. Halfway through our meal, they started blasting club music even though therewas still no one in the restaurant. Perhaps overcompensating for the lack of patrons? This might be a nice place for happy hourdrinks or late night dancing, but it 's not a good restaurant for lunch.
This place would've gotten 5 stars had our server been more attentive. Unfortunately she wasn't. I had to get the attention of the host 3 times???? in order to have our waitress come over initially, then to get our drinks, then to get the check. The 4thand 5th times I asked another server to assist. Pretty sad.???? We waited for about 50 minutes to get our food which washorrible????! Aside from that, both hosts were amazing and the food was delish????. My only complaint regarding the food is itwas a bit on the salty side. A little too heavy on the salt. Otherwise, everything was scrumptious. There was a birthday ???????? party happening so the music was booming. The selection was great and the dj was good. The waitress said everything tooklong because of the party. I say...regardless of a party, youre supposed to have enough manpower to server others in a timelyfashion period! Would I go back? Yes. Despite the long wait, I like to give restaurants 2 to 3 trys before I write them off.So the answer is... I would Definitely go back! I'd suggest, don't go on the weekend because you may not get in. Some peoplewere being turned away because there was no more room. That's probably because of the party, but my guess is, wherever the foodis amazing, the crowd is overflowing. ??
The food is amazing; spicy but so good! I had the Suya Jollof w/ steak a side of sweet plantains. My friend had the chicken Alfredo; both were spicy! The drinks were delicious strong. We both drank the Yardi Punch. The place has a nice vibe withgreat music and hookah. The servers were so personable and attentive. Parking in the area was easy to find on a Saturday night.
