Description

Taps in Fortitude Valley offers a unique beer pouring experience that is real, honest, and great. The atmosphere is fantastic with huge artworks in the background. The restaurant recently updated its menu to include dishes like the clogger, a huge burger with wagyu beef patty, speck, cheese, mac n cheese, and chipotle mayo on a brioche bun. The staff is polite and helpful, and the food is incredible, with well-made burgers and delicious sides like buffalo wings. The restaurant also offers games like Jenga and Connect Four for added entertainment. Overall, Taps provides a great dining experience that is worth visiting again.

I wish i could give a lower than 1 star review. i ordered the wagyu burger and the chicken kebab pizza both of which were horrid. the burger was dry with unseasoned fries. the pizza was sweet as hell and the base was hands down the worst pizza base i have ever had in brisbane. everything was tasteless and just vile vile vile.

Let me start by stating the word you are looking for is chimichurri......... I will clarify this after I complain about the fries for far too long, but stick with me I promise it has a point. My girlfriend and I went out for beers and after finding a couple of our favorite places are closed on Sunday's (seriously!) we thought we would give Taps a run. She's a vegan so an accommodating burger came as a surprise to both of us. Now I will admit from someone who HATES chickpeas the patty on this "burger" was passable if not a solid C+ (my grade 12 english score), but the bun had the substance and flavour of a middle class white mormon family. The lettuce was shockingly wilted considering the burger itself had the moisture of a nun's wine glass (and not a sexy nun, like an old private school nun). And the chips.... Sorry hold on "Rustic Fries"..... Were McCain's super fries.... Seriously I'm 100% sure they were..... Super fries...... No salt. I had mozzarella sticks which if I'm a little critical were a little thick. Could have been a shade smaller and had the same effect but were completely acceptable. HOWEVER they came with Argentinian pesto which was basically an underblended chimichurri. I will forgive them for a second for the fact that they simply couldn't have just put chimichurri on the menu believing I couldn't comprehend a non-italian herb oil could exist. But to match oily cheese, fried in oil and dipping it in oil, seems....unnecessary. Does that need to be pointed out? This may have been us hitting the wrong things on the menu, or not I don't know.

Taps have a vegan burger on their menu that they call "Shut Up Vegan". I just had to try it. Before today I'd never had a chickpea patty I liked but this one was GOOD. (The onion rings on the burger probably helped a lot.) Unfortunately there wasn't enough sauce on the burger, the lettuce was super wilted, the bun was pretty crappy (I abandoned the top half after the first couple bites) and the fries I paid an extra three dollars for were without a doubt McCain Super Fries (steak cut). They didn't even put any salt on them. I wanted the food here to be good but honestly, Taps should be ashamed of themselves particularly for the terrible fries.

This place was incredible, the atmosphere was really nice, the staff was polite and helpful, the eating was incredible, I had a burger (I forgot the names) but it was well made and delicious, I also had a side of buffalo wing and a beer, the double boiled wings were made very good and almost chewed up the burger. the tables had a nice touch with play (jenga/connect four) and there own taps. 10/10 will be back
