Description

Peasant, a Spanish style restaurant in a central location, offers a mix of experiences according to reviewers. While some were disappointed with the service, others found it to be a hidden gem with delicious tapas and a perfect atmosphere for a great night out. The paella was a letdown for one reviewer, who thought it was too spicy, resembling Mexican rice more than Spanish paella. However, others raved about the variety and quality of the dishes, including scallops, pork, croquettes, prawns, and salad tapas. The sangria was a hit among many, and the consistent quality of food and service at Peasant makes it a popular choice for catching up with friends or celebrating special occasions. With dark and moody ambiance, fresh tapas, and good portion sizes, Peasant is a delightful option for those looking for traditional Spanish fare in a friendly environment.

Popped in for a quick tapas dinner before the theatre. Has a great feel. Loved the look of it and the staff were very friendly And the food arrived quickly. My only two issues were that it’s quite hard to hear as there’s no soft furnishings and everything echoes, also, mayonnaise on potatas bravas was not my thing.

Tapas, atmosphere and service were ok, but the paella was a big disappointment, very spicy and reminded us more to a Mexican rice, rather than to a Spanish paella.

We were going to the barracks to find something quick to eat and then stumbled on the peasant menu board. My wife had the pork belly and breads, I had 4 different tapas and was totally gob smacked with each one.
