So, met with a few critics tonight for a nice dinner....ok we had Burger...ok so we entered a burger eating contest. when they now contest the cake burger eating contest they automatically think massive portion, but unfortunately it wasn't that, the burger was really small, but actually really delicious, the patties were not dry, nice amount cheese, but needed more chili, it didn't find until I reached the bottom of... What Roosevelt Morissette doesn't like about Greaser:
Unfortunately disappointed after reading great reviews. Ordered the beef burger and got chicken, maybe the guy at the bar misunderstood and that's ok. Burger was passable but a bit sloppy and rushed together. Chips could only be described as cold. Kitchen wasn't busy so the cook served up old chips anyway instead of frying some fresh ones up, that is so **** and shows he doesn't care. On the bright side the atmosphe... View all feedback.
Update: burgers still good, fried chicken servings now far smaller and the red eye gravy recipe not as good.
Another American themed bar with ridiculously priced hot dogs which I did not order ($13 is truly laughable). The weekly special, "Ode to Miss Peaches" was
The first thing to note is that Greaser is actually a bar that serves food as opposed to a restaurant.
I've been to Greaser dozens of times over the past few years and I really love this place. The first couple times I was intoxicated by the combination of wonderful food, good drinks, great music and nostalgia for the underground bar scene in New York - this place just felt like home and I rated them a 5. Some of the best burgers and the second best fries I've eaten in Brisbane were served up at Greaser, but occasionally I'd experience a sub-par meal. Sub-par when you are expecting a 5, doesn't mean bad, but after a few of these experiences I edited my review and downgraded Greaser from a 5 to a 4.5. I've been to Greaser twice in the past fortnight and have come to accept the reality that they no longer serve Brisbane's best burger. When they are on, they are definitely one of the best, but their consistency just isn't there. Could this have anything to do with the rise of UberEATS and other delivery services? Higher volumes and less quality control? The portions have also gotten smaller. At present, Greaser serves up a very good burger and tasty fries. My wife still loves the double smoked dog with cheese-floss and the many varieties of beer and cider on tap and on offer. Live music and a great vibe help to keep their rating high, but the overall rating has been reassessed at a 4. On my most recent visit I caught up with some fellow reviewers (MB, Mandy Bernadette and Rebecca) and got beaten soundly in a burger eating competition. I dispatched the mortals easily, but the first and second place finishers beat me by more than a minute and were quite something to watch. More volume of food and I like my odds a whole lot better as I'm not really a sprinter - the whole pizza I ate an hour earlier probably didn't help. ***** July 2016 Dropped rating from 5 to 4.5 following two sub-par burgers, but still the best burger in Brisbane. ***** March 2015 - rated 5 Best Burgers in Brisbane. I've been to Greaser a few times now and I love it. The cheeseburgers are the best in Brisbane and my wife swears by the hot dog. Fresh pressed granny smith apples and whiskey make for an interesting and refreshing treat. We've introduced quite a few of our friends to Greaser and it even gets the approval from vegetarians for the Portobello mushroom burger.
