Had my 40th Birthday there with a party of 6. The services there are absolutely superb and nothing bad can be added to it. The dishes are all very well presented and come out according to your needs. The portion seem a bit small if compared to other Asian restaurant on the Southside. However, it was surprisingly fulfilling and we are unable to finish all our orders. The food was a bit too salty for everyone of us but I am sure the kitchen would be able to adjust to that. The price was a bit dear, again if compare to the Southside. Overall we are pleased with the experiences but I won't recommend it for casual family dinner unless you got deep pocket.
Came here for a birthday dinner. Food and service was great as to be expected with the pricing. Pictured was Banana spring roll
4 out of 5 experience but only 3 out of 5 for food. Place is gorgeous, heritage building , very Melbourne. Staff and service fantastic. We did the big banquet and almost every dish was ‘almost’ great. Tuna tartare really tasty but ultimately, not a fresh tuna experience could have been anything. The strange flavour chicken salad not that strange, nice salad with sesame dressing I have made at home. Average prawn dumpling in amazing aged black vinegar with ginger. Murray cod excellent in Hinan style green onion coriander broth. Ditto the duck in plum and waygu. Deep fried ice cream gag. Had a really fun night but for the price? Not in any rush to go back
This restaurant has so much potential to be amazing. The decor and fit out is beautiful, recommend brighter lighting for night time dining. We went there for our daughters birthday and ordered: salt and pepper calamari dim sim set spring rolls roast duck char kwey tiau choy sum rice To come after the meal: mango pancake custard tart It started off well, dim sum was impressive, calamari was tasty, although the roast duck came the same time which was listed as main in the menu. We ate happily, halfway through the roast duck and found 3 pieces that are looking on the raw side. Told the waitress who asked the chef, who confirmed it’s just pink, not raw. It’s not blue raw, and it’s not pink cooked. It’s enough for us to say no, pls replace. They ‘replaced’ came back with 4 pieces, the same piece, except really burnt pieces. So their idea of replacement is frying the duck until it is burnt/overcooked. I only took a photo of 2 of the burnt/overcooked pieces. Our dining experience went downhill very quickly after this. What I felt from this dish is the chef really showing us what he really thinks of his customers and the quality of food served. I still wanted to end on a positive as we ordered dessert and asked for our dessert to come out. One waitress confirmed ok, started clearing the table. 10 minutes later, a second waitress brought out the dessert menu. And I confirmed we had ordered and was expecting for the dessert to come out by then. Another 15 minutes still no dessert, and we booked a 4.30pm dinner because of our young kids. After checking, they confirmed the chef will start on the dessert now. At that point I cancelled and asked for the bill. The dessert was supposed to have a birthday message for our daughter as a nice touch for the end of her day. The waitress though did do something pleasant and gave our daughter a glow stick of some sort plus they made a small bite size cake with a candle before we walked out. So we can appreciate the effort and this made the experience bearable. Unfortunately food being served in a restaurant will have to be up to standards and the chef will have to care. There seems to be a different perspective between the kitchen staff and the service staff on how the customers should be treated. And it is sad and disappointing to see and experience. Our total bill was $244, they gave an $8.70 discount for the inconvenience. The roast duck is $58. If there is a care about the future of this restaurant, then this feedback can be used to implement future improvements or better training for the chefs. We went with another couple and had a fantastic dining experience. We had some lovely dishes and this would have been 5 stars but for one dish. The roll the lobster roll was served with was dry so none of us enjoyed like we should have, as the filling was delicate and delicious. I've never had prawn toast quite like that, sooo tasty! The dumplings were lovely, spicier than I expected, but I kept going back for more. Kung Pao chicken awesome! Oysters fresh and cool as they should be. Even the fried rice was served as it should be, not raw or pared back like restaurants try to do now. The service was really fantastic as even other bad reviewers had to point out, but even when asked for suggestions they all really met the mark. We had a great meal and drinks, and want to say thank you to the team for a great visit!
