During my stay, I did not experience any problems. However, on the day I moved out, the room was inspected. It was expected to be spotless as if only I had ever lived there. Normally, my roommate cleaned the kitchen and I cleaned the bathroom. During the monthly inspections, our room was always found clean, and even though it was in its cleanest condition on my departure day, the inspector still marked it as dirty just to make a deduction from my deposit. For example, he pointed out the tiniest thing he saw on my curtain as a stain and tried to charge even 3 euros for it. In the end, they deducted 108 euros from my deposit as a cleaning fee. First of all, which cleaning company charges more than 100 euros to clean a nearly spotless room of maximum 10 square meters? As a student trying to get by, 100 euros is a significant amount for me. The staff member who inspected my room spoke only German, and I have been in this country for only six months, so I express myself much better in English. He was also quite rude. He even insisted that the shower door was dirty because of marks left by dried water, when in fact it was not dirt at all. If water was sprayed on it, the marks would disappear immediately. There was no need to call a cleaning company for that. This dormitory is nothing but a money trap, and I would not recommend it to anyone. I spent 2–3 hours cleaning my room thoroughly, and had I known they would charge me this much, I would have left it in its dirtiest state. Maybe then the cleaning fee could have been worth 100 euros — but certainly not for a room that was already so clean.
A very comfortable student dormitory. I lived here for two years and was very satisfied. The rooms are fully furnished: a bed of very comfortable size for one person, a nightstand, a cupboard, a desk, and a rack. Some rooms have a very wide balcony. The kitchens may differ in different blocks and in some they are not very large, but each has a work surface, a dining area, and all the necessary appliances: a refrigerator, a separate freezer (quite spacious, which is a huge plus), a cooktop, a stove, a microwave, a toaster, and a small TV. I lived in a block for two people, and all the necessary kitchenware was also provided: cups, glasses, plates, cutlery, a frying pan, and pots of various sizes. Each block also has its own iron, ironing board, and everything you need for cleaning: a vacuum cleaner, mop, bucket, broom, and dustpan. Thanks to all this, you can live comfortably right after you move in. The most bulky items you will need to buy are pillows and blankets, as these are not provided. Each unit also has a locker on the ground floor, which is convenient for storing rarely used items. There is parking for cars and bicycles on the premises, as well as a laundry room. The people on reception not only German but also English, which is a huge plus. Letters and parcels are also delivered to the reception, so you don't have to worry about parcels being left unattended under the door. There are also Amazon and DHL lockers nearby, which are convenient for ordering parcels if you want to receive them at night or on weekends. The location is also very good. There is a tram stop 5 minutes away, which takes you to the city centre in 15 minutes and to the airport in 30 minutes. The university buildings are also nearby. Another huge plus for me was the location near the university's sports halls, which offer a wide range of sports activities at very low prices (anyone can sign up, not just students). There are also many student events held nearby. Sometimes this can be a disadvantage because the noise from these events can be heard in the rooms, but this only happens during the warmer months and almost always on weekends. The rest of the time, it is quite quiet and peaceful here. There is also a large park and lake a 15-minute walk away, where you can swim and barbecue on the shore on warm days. Overall, the dormitory is very pleasant, the rooms are spacious and offer plenty of personal space, the conditions are excellent and everything you need is provided, so if the price suits you, I recommend this place!
I lived here for about half a year, and I found it to be very nice. The rooms ate small but easily decorated to make them more cozy.
I stayed at Galileo Residenz for 9 months, and my experience was excellent. The rooms and facilities are well-maintained, providing a comfortable and student-friendly environment. Its location right next to the university campus makes it incredibly convenient. The management team were always responsive and ready to help with any concerns. Overall, Galileo Residenz is an ideal choice for students.
