We ordered, online, a dinner to go for a family of seven. The restaurant is organized and had our food ready right on time. Well packaged and clearly labeled, we were able to bring dinner back to our condo within an hour of ordering. Food was delicious and generous portions! Year after year, when on vacation in OCNJ we have at least one meal here. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Hula Grill:
This place used to be great. I guess Covid really messed them up or it’s just an excuse. They used to make Taylor ham and egg all day long and always have coffee. And now they do not and the cook is rude to boot! View all feedback.
My family has been enjoying meals at this restaurant for many years, and its quality has always remained high. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and the food is exceptional. Although the outdoor seating can feel a bit cramped, the indoor area is much more spacious when it's safe to dine inside. Any dish that includes the teriyaki hula sauce is a must-try, and they even sell it by the bottle if you'd like to bring some home. The sticky rice complements any dish perfectly, and even the salad is wonderfully fresh, dressed with a homemade dressing that is genuinely the best I've ever had (also available for purchase in bottles). The firecracker shrimp are deliciously spicy and crispy, the teriyaki chicken is consistently tender and sweet, and the crab cakes served with fries are incredible. We've never experienced a bad meal here. The portion sizes are quite generous, and even takeout is just as delicious as dining in. If you're in the area, you definitely need to stop by for dinner!
After spending too much on a disappointing beachside experience, we were on the lookout for a place to eat. We ventured off the boardwalk and stumbled across this restaurant, hoping it would be a good option. Unfortunately, we were wrong. You have to go inside to pay first, and then they bring your food out to you. The service was decent, and our food arrived quickly—so quickly that it felt like nothing was prepared fresh. I ordered the Tuna Poke Bowl, but to my disappointment, there was an inch of water at the bottom, making everything soggy. The flavor was incredibly dull, and I found myself dousing it with Tabasco just to add some taste. I could only eat about a third of it before my appetite disappeared. Looking around, I noticed other diners were also leaving their meals mostly untouched. I cannot recommend this place. The prices are steep for what you get, and the quality is lacking.
The portion sizes are not worth the price. It's disappointing because we had an excellent experience here last year and were excited to come back. The protein servings were very small, just a spoonful of rice accompanied them, and prices started at $23. Overall, it wasn't the greatest experience.
They had a good variety of things to pick from the menu like hamburgers, wraps and sandwiches. I got the chicken tender meal that came with fries. It cost $10 which I thought was a good deal considering how much things cost on the boardwalk. I also got a mango smoothie which tasted very good. The chicken tenders and fries were satisfying. I would return.
