What User doesn't like about Squire House:
if I could give him the zero stars, I would. intoxed server, a cook from the middle of the layer, 45 minutes after our reservations, did not get the half of our meal or our drinks, (they were spilled on another mozen) then forget to bring back one. overpriced, and only got terrible from beginning to end. the owner who runs around would have fired the intoxicating server at any time and let himself cut and bleed over... We rarely eat out as we both like to cook and enjoy exploring new recipes. For our anniversary we like to try a different local eatery each year and this year's pick was Squire House. The reviews we read were strong and we were not disappointed in any way. The service was outstanding with lots of personal attention from our server, Molly, as well as the manager. We were encouraged to take as much time as we liked to enjoy the drinks, food and relaxing ambience. The drinks were original takes on classics, the french onion soup was clearly scratch made and ceasar salad was dressed just right. The Elk Bolognese and the short ribs were absolutely delicious! All at a reasonable price, unlike so many local restaurants in downtown Bozeman. We look forward to visiting Squire House again!!!
The Squire House had a relaxed atmosphere on Wednesday night at 8 PM, which allowed for some lovely personal service. Maddie, the bartender, along with a gentleman who seemed to be either the owner or manager, welcomed us warmly and took great care of our needs. We enjoyed some delicious Elk Bolognese and boneless Short Rib. I also sampled the Bozeman, a blend of a Manhattan and Old Fashioned, and ended the meal with a couple of fingers of Aberlour for dessert. The bar itself is a pleasant place to sit, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. Definitely worth a visit!
The food here is excellent, and the beignets are truly fabulous! There are three different seating areas: the main room, a lovely outdoor patio, and my personal favorite, the bar/lounge. While it's not very large, I appreciate that aspect. The only reason I gave the atmosphere a 4-star rating is that the air conditioning can be a bit uncomfortable at times. It doesn't run continuously, and when it is on, the airflow can be inconsistent. Overall, this is definitely my kind of place!
Excellent in every aspect. We had a later dinner here and basically had the place to ourselves. It was quiet and very relaxing. The staff were extremely friendly and personable. The food was some of the best we’ve ever had. The Elk burgers and sprouts were Devine. We can’t wait to come back next time we are in town. Thank you!
We had to wait quite a while just for our water to be refilled. The mussels that were served were closed, indicating they were dead before cooking. Additionally, I believe I could have prepared a better carbonara at home.
