Open Range serves classic steakhouse favorites done to perfection. The French onion soup makes a wonderful appetizer, and the wedge salad is flawless. My top choice is the ribeye, accompanied by crispy potatoes.

Although... read more I spent $350 at Open Range Mt, hoping to enjoy some of the best steaks in Bozeman. Unfortunately, one of our steaks was cooked incorrectly by the chef. Although it was replaced, the second steak was also not prepared properly. On the bright side, the drinks, appetizers, and salad were excellent, and our waiter was generally attentive, despite seeming uncertain about the distinction between a Tenderloin and a Filet Mignon. However, I was quite disappointed with the steaks—Rib Eye, New York, and Tenderloin—all of which were so charred that the burnt exterior overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations.

The bartender, Beck, who served us was fantastic and offered great recommendations throughout the meal I enjoyed with my friend. We shared the special: a perfectly seared and seasoned 32 oz Tomahawk ribeye, aged for 28 days, accompanied by fingerling red potatoes and olive oil asparagus. To start, I ordered a Bleu cheese wedge salad, which was crisp, fresh, and truly delightful. The suggested wine pairing was also rich and delicious. For dessert, we had key lime pie, which struck a perfect balance between acidity and sweetness, clearly crafted with care and featuring a tasty graham cracker crust. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely as well. This is undoubtedly the best steak I've had since arriving in town, and it could be one of the best I've ever had. The service staff were exceptional, and the menu was perfectly executed, showcasing the best key lime pie I have ever had. The bar provided excellent service and offered Montana-inspired drinks that everyone loved. Some of our association members, who have been attending events like this for 35 years, said this was the best conference dinner they've ever experienced. Great job all around! I would absolutely host another event at Open Range.

While the overall menu is on the pricier side, the burger was reasonably priced and delicious. The drink selection was also excellent, and the bartender (I think his name was Tyler) provided great recommendations. The service was attentive; my glass was never empty for long. The staff was friendly and engaged in conversation while efficiently managing their tasks. Just be sure to check the prices before you sit down so you know what to expect on the bill, though that’s a good idea wherever you go.
