Monte Rico - Bothell
Monte Rico
Description
Tucked into the back of a neighborhood convenience store, this family-run counter turns out authentic, wallet-friendly Mexican street fare—standout pastor, tripa and burrito options, plus pupusas and limited pork tamales. Lively Mexican music and warm hospitality amplify a casual, unpretentious vibe. Expect excellent homemade sauces, reliable phone-ahead pickup and a few dine-in tables; note that prep times vary. A hidden gem for adventurous, budget-conscious diners who don’t mind the unconventional setting.

The food is good with authentic influence. The space is a bit ambiguous and an unfamiliar visitor might experience some confusion with the ordering process. They do offer phone orders which is probably the way to go. Call ahead and then pick up. 'Monte Rico ' is located inside the 'Top Market Deli ' convenience store. Parking may be congested. The salsas in the white refrigerator are not for customers to open. Use the condiments to the left of the refrigerator and not inside of it. They have a big menu with digital display. Some basic signs and arrows might improve the ordering process and clarify etiquette for new consumers.
It's the little things that count and this little bonanza of superb Mexican food is a topper on my list of hidden secrets. It's tucked away in the back of a convenience store and so unassuming, there's not a clue to how amazing the food really is. It's also nestled in among pot smoking paraphernalia, so just be aware of that. But if you can get over it, the food is worth it!
We love this place. It's in the back of a convenience store, but they do have a few tables if you want to sit and eat your delicious food. They're always so nice when I call in orders and my food is amazing every time. Love this place!
Absolutely the best tacos I’ve ever had! My husband and I were looking for some Mexican food during our visit, and we discovered this little hidden gem. The tacos here are simply outstanding! The service was excellent as well. I highly recommend checking it out!
The restaurant is cash only. We ordered two burritos at $6 each—one with tripa and the other with pastor—and both were delicious. The pastor was wonderfully seasoned. We were very impressed and will be returning to explore more of the menu. We also ordered pupusas for $2.50 each with carnitas, which took a bit longer to prepare.
