The young mana... read more L'Encoche (interesting name!) offers high quality food in a beautiful setting. It is located on one of the nicest squares in the historic center. The young manager is very attentive. The menu tends towards the classic and - judging by other reviews - doesn't change very often.

The restaurant is located just off La Rue de Pas-St-Georges in a beautiful stone-walled medieval building. We both had the salmon and sesame starter which came with a subtle horseradish sauce. My main was an exquisitely cooked rack of lamb and my husband had an equally stunning piece of veal - both came with stir fry vegetables and creamy mash. My dessert of chocolate fondant with speculoos and my husband's praline dacquoise perfectly rounded off the meal. We enoyed a very reasonable bottle of Cote de Nuits Villages and with the excellent cooking, ambience, friendly service, great music and reasonable prices it was a night to treasure.
