We arrived as the church clock was striking 8,... read more We called in on the way back to our hotel to book a table for that evening at 8pm, having read the good reviews . We arrived as the church clock was striking 8, to find that our table had been given away, much to even the owner's surprise. However, he managed to squeeze us onto another table with two Germans who were just having a drink. The order was taken quite promptly and our drinks arrived soon afterwards and then we sat........and we sat........and we sat. One hour and ten minutes later, after much remonstrating by us and our German table companions on our behalf, our food arrived. I have no recollection as to whether it was good or not, as, by this time, we were so hungry, the worst food in the world would probably have tasted OK and we had already drunk most of the bottle of wine.To our hosts that evening: yes, I know you had two large tables to look after, but you did accept our booking only three hours earlier, so you must have thought you would be able to cope. When you realised that you were not going to be able to cope, maybe some explanation about the delay would have been in order, not to mention that the possibility of bringing us some bread or nuts or olives or even our dinner in less than 70 minutes might have appeased the situation?

We live in Germany and I eat a lot of schnitzel but this one was very good. We sat there playing cards after we ate and they were happy to let us just stay there. Lovely evening.
