Great local restaurant, service, atmosphere all outstanding. Halibut was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth! Thought the food, portions and atmosphere was quite a bit better than the Bewildered Pig! View all feedback.
What Louise A doesn't like about Table 128:
Went with a friend for a 'small plate ' dinner we could not eat the 'prefix menu ' without prior reservation . Nice setting, service totally absent, below average quality of the food, all that for $50 per person tip included. We ordered at the bar: 1 glass of wine each and 4 'small plates ' to share that were delivered at the table without a tablecloth! of our choosing in the garden. Thereafter, there was no water, n... We called ahead to ask about reservations and the menu for that evening. Fortunately, we were accommodated on short notice, which was a win. We were informed that it was a prix fixe menu featuring homemade pasta, lamb sirloin with creamy horseradish and ratatouille, followed by a pecan tart for dessert, all at $42 per person. After making our reservation, we enjoyed excellent service and a delightful meal. However, the main entree shown in the picture was meant for two people, costing $84. For what seemed like only half a pound of lamb and a straightforward ratatouille, this felt excessive—this is my first complaint. My second complaint arose when we received the check, which totaled $103. We had only ordered the meal and water, with no other beverages. The check indicated a "pre-tip" charge. When we inquired about this, the server explained that a 15% hotel service fee is automatically added, and she would not receive any of that, hence the "pre-tip" label. When we made the reservation, they mentioned a 15% gratuity, but it was unclear that this was for the hotel instead of the server. This felt quite questionable. Of course, we tipped our server for her excellent service, but after adding an additional $20, our total came to $123 for what was initially stated as an $84 meal. It’s not about the money but the principle of transparency. Just state your prices clearly without employing tactics that feel misleading. I dislike leaving negative reviews, but this situation really disappointed me. I urge you to reconsider this practice, or at the very least, ensure that when customers make reservations, they are clearly informed about the meal costs, the additional 15% for the house, and that gratuity for the server is left to the customer’s discretion.
This was our first meal together as a married couple after our wedding in Philo, and it was the perfect way to end a magical weekend. They typically offer a prix fixe dinner menu on Fridays and Saturdays, which is always changing and highlights seasonal ingredients. The best dish I’ve ever had here was a halibut ceviche served in a radicchio cup, paired with a creamy piperade sauce—it was mind-blowing and a generous portion for a reasonable $10. For dessert, we indulged in a simple yet decadent sundae made with vanilla ice cream, caramel maple sauce, and toasted pecans. Be sure to make a reservation, as it fills up quickly. Both the indoor and outdoor seating options are charming, but if the weather permits, don’t miss out on the patio. It’s the perfect setting to soak up the ambiance of their twinkling, secret garden. While Boonville is a laid-back place, you can still enjoy a few little luxuries along the way, which is why we’ll always stop for a meal at Table 128!
