The dining experience was fantastic, and the food was exceptional. I highly recommend it!

Had a fabulous meal in the main room with magnificent views of the blue ridge mountain. the trout was excellent with the most delicious yukon potatoes, simply amazing. the flat iron steak, boiled to perfection. excellent Caesar salad with sprinkled fresh parmesan. perhaps the best caesar ever. texas pecan pie superb! only complained we were there on a Thursday night and to invite the live music for the inner dining room. otherwise a perfect experience and a must do when in boone, blowing rock area.

We have celebrated our 20th annual day. Eating and service was excellent. loved the atmosphere and made even new friends with couple of adjacent table. highly recommended.

The patio offers a stunning view of the mountains, creating a beautiful ambiance. I concur with other reviewers that sunglasses (and perhaps sunscreen or a visor) are essential until the sun goes behind a cloud. The service was quite good, but the food was mediocre, heavily relying on rich sauces and starchy sides for many of the main dishes (the salad course, however, was excellent). Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I would return—though perhaps just for cocktails and appetizers next time.

Excellent food, but the experience was marred by a very long wait. We had a reservation for 8 pm, arrived 15 minutes late, but then had to wait for quite some time, but not just to get seated: also to get a waiter, then for the waiter to take our order, etc. In fact, I tried to get the waiter to take our order when he brought the drinks, but he ran away as if not wanting to take the order at that time. Perhaps the kitchen was overworked; there was a noisy wedding going on at the same time, and maybe they couldn't handle that many orders (but then they should just have not taken our reservation). We finally left the restaurant (with 2 grandchildren) at close to 11 pm! The other issue that was not up to par was the bartender. At a high-end restaurant, I expect a knowledgeable bartender. This one did not know what a perfect Manhattan was, and it came with a cherry instead of the requested twist (the latter may have been the waiter's fault). Had it not been for the extreme slowness of service and the poor bartending, it would have been a superb evening. Moral of the story: don't come here on an evening when a wedding is in process.
