If you live in Central Texas, then you have to visit Little Gretel. Traditional Czech cuisine with a hill country flair. We are there almost every weekend for the best pancakes I’ve ever had! I don’t work for them or the Chamber of Commerce. I just love good food and good people. Lani and Walter are the best tell them Jake sent you! View all feedback.
What tucor380 doesn't like about Little Gretel:
Called made a reservation. Got there, were the only customers, should have bolted. Employees milling about, but slow service. Charged 5 bucks to switch from spaetzel to purple cabbage. My rouladen was teeny and over-cooked. Beef was dry as Texas. Was the chef distracted with all the other orders? Nope, we’re the only customers. Price tag for four diners was about what you’d expect at Peter Lugers in NYC. The Dodging... View all feedback.
I had the roast duck-wasn’t sure if I’d like it but it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The skin was crispy, not fatty, meat tender and the side dishes were all delicious too. We ate around 5pm so not busy then. Waiter refilled our drinks, was attentive and again, the food outstanding.
My Kolache Benedict brought me right back to the old country of Hungary, and the new-old country of New Prague Minnesota with the delicious Jalapeño Kiolbasa sausage. My wife’s Czech roots drew her to this breakfast oasis on our tour of west Texas on our way to New Mexico and we couldn’t have been more pleased.
If you want some really excellent German food while you're in Boerne TX, I highly recommend Little Gretal Restaurant. The local charm and service compliments an already great menu. The food was hearty and fresh just like oma used to make.Check hours of operation since the had just opened up for dinner as I arrived. Good timing!
Wait staff very attentive in a Casual environment. Have eaten here several times over the years. The food is always delicious.
The place was super cute! But the food was very underwhelming. Maybe it's the more traditional way which I can respect, but as an American super sweet tooth, I would recommend against ordering pastries and desserts. The fruit dumplings and apple strudel looked very cute, but the fillings were bland and not good. The eggs Benedict and other savory food items were great though. And the waffle was AMAZING!! There is usually a wait time on weekends but there's a cute little place to take a quick stroll with some ducks across the street while waiting.
