It was ordinary at best. Having just had some amazing food at the other side of the square thought the routard awards would be a good sign . Just didn’t enjoy Service ordinary
On our current visit to Bilbao , we dropped in to Zuga a couple of times nearest entrance to our hotel . Service in evenings was poor and tapas selection was substandard by comparison with other bars . But what really annoyed me was the staffs attitude toward maintaining the closing time . On our first evening , Monday , closing time was 10pm , by Thursday evening we were told by an unpleasant man that we would not be served at 9.28 pm ! These bars must be making so much money that working to official closing time is not necessary ! If it was mine I would be reviewing the attitude of the employees both towards opening hours and towards customers !
We each had a warm and a cold foie gras pintxos and they were both delicious. Had a nice verdejo and a jammy Ribera. My husband also had fake baby eels on crab salad and another one that was also good.
This little bar is very modern with a different range of Pintxo toppings. Eel and very different seafood based pintxos. Not for everyone. We found the bar very noisy with loud funky music playing through the speaker system. Limited range and quite expensive by other standards. we probably wouldn't go back.
