As I was staying in the old town, it was pe... read more Bilbao has a pretty poor local craft beer and microbrewery scene, but was VERY glad when I found out about Basquery. As I was staying in the old town, it was perfectly located for me for getting to the bus stop to get to Bilbao Airport, so made my way here for lunch. Bakery, meets bar, meets microbrewery and restaurant. Was most certainly my type of place! Ordered a beer while I waited for the restaurant to open for lunch, and was just a really good local hang out spot! While staff have limited English, I was able to get buy and ordered another beer, and the cheese and bacon burger. Kitchen area is in full display right in front on you and will see your meal freshly prepared. Burger was excellent and really recommend this place if looking for something to eat.

Really c... read more After the 1 hour boat tour along the BILBOA estuary, we were on the hunt for a beverage and a snack. Basquery checked all of those boxes and then some. Really cool brewery bakery concept, the venue is really interesting, a mix of old and new concrete, granite and brick. The beer menu « on tap » was a pleasant surprise, great assortment of unique beers. We tried the HITMAN IPA , IMPERIAL STOUT, EZAIN (cacao porter They were all really great beers. We ordered the nachos for a snack, they were AMAZING. The most delicious nachos we’ve experienced since moving to Europe 8 years ago. Of course we had to try a dessert, it was an apple cake/pie innovation….it was so good. The person behind the food is a master of his craft. We just so happened to show up during happy hour …… 1/2 price, we drank, we ate, we enjoyed all for 15 euro. The best part of the visit was the staff….they were super friendly….lots of laughs as we struggled to communicate: My spanish is non existent and their english made for a number of interesting exchanges. Love travelling Definitely visit BASQUERY you will not be disappointed…..everyone can use a beer or a dessert break while they are exploring Bilbao.

There is a small... read more We visited here twice while in Bilbao. I wanted to come here for their craft beer choices and weren’t disappointed by the ones that I sampled. There is a small amount of indoor seating by the bar and three tables outside on the sidewalk. The lower level is mostly restaurant seating but there are a few tables by the toilets that are also open when the restaurant isn’t busy. Ordering is done at the bar when you aren’t in the restaurant, but we thought the bartenders weren’t that prompt to serve us. On our second visit, we decided to eat in the restaurant and ordered the smothered fries and the small nachos. Both were good but not great. The fries had a salsa on them that was a bit spicy.
