Reviews - Big Pine Rooster
Reviews summary
Big Pine Rooster has garnered a mixed yet intriguing reputation among diners. While the diverse menu, featuring standout dishes like Lobster Mac and Thai Chili Shrimp, delights many, service inconsistencies have raised concerns. Reports of delayed meals and communication issues with staff suggest a need for better training. Yet, amidst these challenges, the restaurant's commitment to homemade dishes shines through, distinguishing it from the typical frozen fare found in the area. With its rich flavors and generous portions, Big Pine Rooster remains a noteworthy culinary stop, though patience may be required for a fulfilling dining experience.

What a delightful family-friendly restaurant! We really enjoyed the benches with cushions—they were so comfortable! The food was fantastic; we tried both the grilled and blackened yellowfin, and both were delicious! The Key Lime Pie was also very tasty! Our server, Bobby, was incredibly nice. Despite being one of only two servers managing the entire restaurant, he worked diligently while always wearing a smile and ta... View all feedback.
What StefanieW dislikes about Big Pine Rooster:
The fish dip was delicious, although the seasoning on the seafood was a bit too spicy for my taste—it really took my breath away. That said, there were plenty of options to choose from! View all feedback.

Have had alot of amazing food! Always been impressed by the portions they brag about! But for the first time not so much? The sandwich was really good! But less then half the size of the last one? Don't go down on us bucktooth? If you need to cut back? OK! But you cut the size of the sandwich, not alot of fries, did not even fill the coleslaw? Love your restaurant! Just don't go cheep on us!

Every single thing here was above average. We tried chicken alfredo, beach bread, rooster rolls, Thai curry veggie, cheeseburger, chicken tenders, and fries. (See pictures) The beach bread and rooster rolls for appetizers were both very very good. After living in the keys for a year and noticing that basically every single restaurant simply buys frozen stuff then warms it up then turns around and marks the price up by 5 x the amount they paid this place was different. They make from starch nearly everything and you can tell the different in the food. The prices are KW prices but you get way more than you can eat, it's like buying two meals for each dish. We didn't eat half and took what was left to go. Great service and nice and clean interior. If I had to nitpick I'd say the front room crowdedness would have been the only possible negative. Easily the best overall restaurant I've found here. I have found a few places that have one or two good dishes but overall this place was very good.

The waitress was very friendly, but the restaurant itself didn't live up to expectations. I had read all the positive reviews and decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, my burger had an overwhelmingly gamey flavor and I couldn't finish it, so I sent it back. I wasn’t given the option to reorder. The conch fritters were burnt, but we picked off the charred bits and ate what we could since we were hungry and tired after walking all day. To top it off, we were never offered a drink refill, so we ended up sitting with empty glasses throughout our meal.
For vegetarians, there were plenty of options available. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive when it came to accommodating my dietary restrictions, offering gluten-free options and modifications. Additionally, they were very friendly and patient with my children, making it a kid-friendly environment.
We came here after finding No Name pub too crowded, and I was blown away! I didn't expect the food to be this amazing. I'm staying in the area for a month, and I plan to return as often as I can—I'm even coming back for breakfast tomorrow morning. Truly fantastic! It's far better than anything else I've tried here, not even a comparison. Be sure to ask for Sol; she's excellent!
We ended up here by accident and we were so happy we did! Everything from the drinks to the food and the service was fantastic. Sol was our server and she was phenomenal. Highly recommend.

Seafood pasta was tasty but loads of pasta and thin sauce and not that much seafood. Garlic bread was soggy.
We arrived with a reservation, only to find out that they don’t actually accept reservations and don't use OpenTable. Fortunately, they had a table available for us, and we were seated. However, we then waited 20 minutes without any water or a greeting from a server. Eventually, we decided to leave. Other diners mentioned they had waited "an eternity" for their food. What a disaster!

We visited for breakfast today, and it was a great experience. The breakfast menu offers a wide variety of options that cater to everyone's tastes. The portions are huge, and the food quality is excellent. Our total bill was $25.00, and my wife had enough leftovers for an entire meal. We'll definitely be returning!
Excellent find not only was the quantity huge but the quality was superior. Best crunchy fish tacos around (and we come from the best in San Diego), BLT loaded, burger contained in the Patty Melt was cooked to perfection, Ridiculous Rueben was very fulfilling, and the fried green tomatoes were over the top. Going back tomorrow morning as we leave the keys for breakfast. YUM
This place was great on a few levels, their food is only surpassed by their resilience, they survived a hurricane, and were still able to feed the people cleaning up after irmas mess. Thank you folks for feeding us so well, and for having the level of professionalism that would make me re-visit even if the food wasn't as amazing as it was.
Always great food and a great staff. Meals are huge. So nice to have real food here in the Keys. We are locals and go almost every day.

Great spot for dinner in the Keys. Our waiter, Kyle, was attentive and prompt. The food was tasty, although the mahi mahi was a bit tough.

The fish was absolutely delicious, though the spices on the seafood were a bit too strong for me—it took my breath away. However, there were plenty of options to choose from!
