We always make it a point to celebrate special occasions here, and we always request Ming as our server because he is truly the best. (Just a heads up, he has Mondays off.) The entire staff is fantastic! I just wish I were young enough to visit weekly. The regular dining area is wonderful, and the bar is great too. I can't comment on the sushi since I don't eat it. As for kid-friendliness, the kids always have a great time!

But I was disappointed with the calamari unrecognizable and with an unpleasant rubbery texture and the chicken was just passable. I will find a different teppanyakiplace next time.

I would rate the food and service a 3. However, on a bill of nearly $114 (before tax , I left a $26 tip. I had alreadytipped the chef $10 at the end of his cooking. (You do the math! I always tip 20% and usually on pretax. The hostess broughteverything back to say I didn?t leave enough?she wanted 20% on the bottom line. ?We have to pay the chef?. My explanations allof a sudden did not seem to be understood. I have never been insulted like this in any restaurant?in most states in this countryand on three continents! We are from out of town, but visit the Cape Ann area often because we have family here. Other membersof our family visit here for the same reason. And all of us spend a lot of money in area restaurants. Suffice it to say, no moreof my food dollars, or that of my extended family and hopefully many of our local friends, will be going to the Mikado.
