The welcome by the owner, a charming elderly lady, is warm and accommodating (you can speak French or Alsatian with her). As is often the case with family restaurants in European towns, there is a more formal part where gourmet menus are served and a more rustic part where you can eat an excellent menu of the day and enjoy a glass of wine. The menu on the day of our visit enticed us to sit in the less formal part of the restaurant but once we saw the amazing menus served in the more formal restaurant, we asked to switch to a table there - a request that was honored with grace and efficiency.And what a lovely menu we were served there, for an astounding quality/price. After a generous amuse bouche, we had a stellar appetizer of matjes with choucroute croquante à la pomme, resting on a "panna cotta façon bibalakas" - a fabulous combination. The rabbit terrine was also expertly put together, large pieces of juicy rabbit meat in gelée served with red cabbage. Main dishes included pork cheeks with squares of grits ("griesspflutta"), and a suprême of country chicken with spaetzle. A trio of intense sorbets and fine coffee made for a perfect ending.The service was attentive, friendly, and relaxed. We left L'arbre vert with the firm intention to return as soon as possible.

Not cheap but high quality and easy-going informal atmosphere. I had pigeon and my girlfriend had foie gras, both at Eur 27. Half a bottle of Gewurtstraminer from Josmeyer was eur 24. It all came to eur 86 for two, I'd say it was worth it. We did not have so much time to linger around because we had more tastings waiting for us, but this restaurant would be a pleasant environment to spend a leisurly evening. The wine list was less than unforgettable though, it could be improved with more options.
