The atmosphere and service were great; as expected of any Michelin star restaurant of any star rating. This, to me, is the bare minimum when I'm paying 300+ euro per person (tip not included by the way). So at least one star is earned so far. I took my wife with me since I like strong flavours and she doesn't. Salt, spice, sweet, etc. I had someone that I could talk about the dishes and make sure I was being sensible. All heavy savory dishes were oversalted. I thought I was crazy because oversalt my dishes at home and love it. Never to this extent though. I don't know if they wanted me to order more drinks or what but sad that the food was sacrificed for that reason. All the other dishes were ok. They were good in the sense that I could've eaten them at a mid range restaurant and been happy. But being at a 3 star michelin place and this is the best they had to offer? Just because something took longer to make or was more complex to create doesn't make the food better. The one dish were I tasted something different and new for the first time was the dessert were natural Oxalsäure from vegetables is used. That was wonderful but one dish can't make up for the other 12. I'm middle class and this experience was a huge part of my savings. I could keep on writing but I don't want to waste any more energy on this. Final bill was around 890 euro with tip.

Still the standard for fine dining in Berlin.

First of all the food was incredibly unique and essentially flawless. What you’d expect from a 3 star Michelin restaurant in that regard. When it comes to experience and customer satisfaction there is a LOT to be desired. We showed up at 7 pm and left 4.5 hours later due to a pretty disconcerting service plan which I can only assume anticipates that guests partake in the wine pairings because we did not and for a 13 course menu were often left with anywhere from a 20 45 minute gap between courses (not counting the desserts which came out in quick succession due to presumably the staff needing to go home). If you’re looking to spend an additional 200€ per person (on top of the 360€ for the 13 course menu) the wine pairing is the way to go. If you’re not I would not recommend this experience as on occasion it felt like we were in a prison. By no fault of the staff but rather the chefs who curated a menu with a 2.5 hour carrot roasting that apparently only begins once you are seated…

A Deeply Disappointing Experience at Rutz, Berlin I booked a table at Rutz a month in advance and was genuinely excited. It was my first time visiting a 3-Michelin-star restaurant. I ordered the Berlin Style menu for €240 and expected a memorable, high-level experience. Unfortunately, the evening turned into a series of disappointments. The problems began with the very first course. I’m vegetarian, while my partner eats meat, and the staff mixed up our dishes. I ended up eating an oxtail croquette by mistake, my first bite of meat in five years. The only response I received was a brief “sorry,” with no real apology, no compensation, and no attempt to acknowledge the seriousness of the mistake. Additionally, even though we clearly said we didn’t want any wine, the staff pushed us to “just try one glass.” Only when the bill arrived did we discover that each glass cost €40. The menu price was also incorrect. We were charged €260 instead of the €240 shown at the time of booking. When I asked why, I was told that the price had gone up since then, even though I reserved a month earlier. This felt extremely unprofessional and unfair. The meal lasted 3.5 hours, with long and uncomfortable gaps between courses. At one point we waited nearly 30 minutes for the next dish. Overall, a very disappointing experience that fell far short of what one would expect from a 3-Michelin-star restaurant.
