The look of the place, I would describe as having an "exclusive" feel; a.k.a. QUITE cramped but extremely cute. Again, Omoni has VERY good sushi, but terribly slow service. Order everything you want at once, because it's hard to get more once you've ordered. Best sushi in Berlin.

However last nite I had... read more I have been to Omoni several times in the last 6 years I have been living here in Berlin and every time I really enjoyed the food here. However last nite I had one of the worst service I ever received in a restaurant. It was just after 6pm Saturday. I stopped by without reservation and ordered the 26 euro "sushi for two" menu as a take away. Since the restaurant was still not very busy, the owner/chef accepted my order, so I sat at the bar waiting. The waitress brought me the bill for 26 euros. I handed her 30 euros and told her "30 euros" meaning that she can keep the change. Now, as I am a Korean American and I know that most of the people working at Omoni is Korean, I said this in Korean. The waitress looked at me in a puzzlement, so I told her again "30 euros." In my mind, I thought she was pleasantly surprised that I am giving her 4 euro tip for a 26 euro take away service. Boy, was I wrong. After several minutes, the waitress brought me the bag with my take away but as she was handing me the bag she told me that she was very offended when I told her "30 euros". What??? Now I'm puzzled. Offended for what???? Was 4 euro tip for 26 euro menu item as take away too little??? What was she offended by? She told me that I used the impolite form when I told her "30 euros" in Korean and started to lecture me that although she is younger than I am (I'm late 40s and she was probably early 20s) that I should have respected her and added "yo"when I closed my sentence which in Korean makes it a polite form. Seriously???? My head exploded!!!! When i told her "30 euros", I do admit I said it in a very German way of leaving tips. Simply saying the amount of money that I want to leave. I know that you do add "bitteschön" after saying the amount, but it is also very common to leave out "bitteschön" and just say "drießig euro". I have been living here for 18 years now, so I am becoming Germanized in this sense. OMG... she simply was not having it. i didn't want to make any scene so I apologized to her for not adding "yo". I left the restaurant with my bag of sushi, but that was the worst 30 euros i have ever spent in my whole life... Tip for any Koreans out there visiting Omoni. Do not speak Korean to the waitresses. They will treat you like dirt. I'm sure if I said "Dreißig euro" instead she would not have treated me like that. but the sushi i like...

First we were pushed to order - than no waiter came back. I got all my food, while my guest had nothing and was staring at my dishes.The ambient doesn't support a nice, casual discussion and I would not recommend for groups with more than 4. After 1.5 hours we decided to find a pub, as it was not the place to spend more time (and we were expected to leave our table anyhow after two hours).Nice food - but atmosphere and service need to improve.
