This is a really nice place to stop when you see Charlottenburg or the palace. The menu is limited as it is seasonal. When I went, there was only a real vegan option (which also involves the vegetarian option than the other three meals fish, but you could add extra tofu, tempeh etc. to it at an additional cost. For about 10 euros we did eat a very cheerful dish! Bulgarian wheat with sweetcorn, a huge selection of very fresh vegetables and a very tasty lentil and carrot stew. We both ordered the big record when we went from Kreuzberg to Charlottenburg and were really tired and hungry, but, to be honest, it was a fight to finish everything. They are certainly generous with their portions. It was what I can only describe as a 'show'. A bit like the old veggie cafés served in the 80s. All good, natural things and very tasty. It was also a welcome relief to eat the kind of food you make yourself (albid, at least for me, much more beautiful! instead of all fake meats and really rich sauces. It's good. Would have been nice to have a few choices, but I think that's why everything is so fresh. The decor is quite simple, but it is very clean and the amount of lonely diners there gave me the impression that this is a popular lunch place for local office workers looking for themselves a few minutes to have a delicious healthy meal. The waitress was beautiful and we went through pieces German and English. They also make beer (including alcohol-free beer that was a relief to my friend!
As for my personal experience, after the classic, and excellent, soup of miso, we tasted the monopiatto of the day, based on buckwheat, carrots, broccoli to the hazelnut and sincean to the sesame, accompanied by a tray of rawness. The restaurant is very nice, and so is the cook, a very friendly Austrian. I had a hearty soup, followed by a bowl of buckwheat, carrots, hazelnuts Broccoli and Sesam Seitan, and a plate of raw vegetables. I then had an amazing almond cake with vegan Custard cream: absolutely delicious!
Why aren 't you served? And when, after waiting in an open space with workers running back and forth, you go behind the scenes, why aren 't you at least served there? You 'll have to wait for your food, though. First, the transport is being prepared. Ah, okay! How long would I have to wait for the food? Maybe 10 minutes? says the young woman. 10 minutes is okay, I say, but I won 't wait half an hour, I 'm hungry. The young woman looks uncertain and says she can 't say. But there! Hurray! The boss comes! I 've known dear Hans for ages from the natural food industry. We briefly explain the matter in question, and he quickly runs up to his employees to ask. Nice! He comes back, ignores us. Already forgotten what we were talking about? I ask the young woman if there are certain times when it 's good to eat if you don 't want to appear as inconvenient as I did today. No answer! People say I 'm not aggressive and scold me for it. But now I feel a bit angry. I insist that at least my question be answered. The young woman says, I just don 't know. Then I say, Then please say so, instead of ignoring me! Turning to Hans, I say, Then I 'll go now. He says, Okay. I say, That 's okay now, too... No reaction; I 'm literally just air. What a...! I was looking forward to it, and it was supposed to be the beginning of a new macrobiotic lifestyle—the restaurant is next door, and I planned to come several times a month starting today. A lost customer—they really don 't care! And by the way, I 'm not hysterical, and I wasn 't looking for a lightning rod. This is entirely justified criticism.
When I ate there in the last week of January 2025, I was incredibly disappointed. The food displayed no culinary skill. Essentially, the vegan ingredients were thrown together without any culinary sense. Some of the ingredients seemed to have been cooked a few days earlier because they lacked any bite. The vegetables were mush and lacked any original seasoning. The mushrooms in the soup had the consistency of a pencil eraser. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the restaurant. The service is good and friendly, but that alone doesn't make a visit to the restaurant a better experience. It remains a culinary disappointment. In the restaurant's side rooms, some of which you have to cross to use the restroom, you encounter a collection of bulky waste.
