I will definitely return! The menu has fantastic options, and the IPA and wine selection is impressive. The customer service was exceptional; the staff was kind enough to allow me to enjoy my dinner even after they had closed.
This is a great spot for healthy food with plenty of vegetarian choices. The Bolognese pasta is excellent and served in generous portions. However, the chicken soup is a bit on the generic side.
I visited this restaurant again today and asked to speak with a manager before placing my order. I wanted to ensure that the issues I experienced during my last visit would not happen again, as I have been ordering the same meal since this location opened years ago. When I ordered the fried chicken plate with an extra side of chicken and requested a discount, the manager informed me that I had already received a refund during my previous visit. I thanked her and paid the cashier $27.45, then waited a long time for my order. I thought it was better to wait for the correct items. However, when I checked my bag on the way out, I noticed that the mashed potatoes were missing. I turned back and asked about the rest of my order, and an employee quickly scrambled to put some mashed potatoes in a container for me. I mentioned the missing item to the manager, but she just looked at me without any further acknowledgment. It’s frustrating because this situation has become a frequent occurrence. When I got home, I discovered that the container only had a small amount of mashed potatoes, not the full serving I expected. I’ve been coming to this location since it opened, and I am disappointed to report that the quality has declined. During this visit, the chicken was tough and excessively salty, and there were smaller portions crammed into smaller containers, which is a change from when they used to provide larger takeout boxes. Additionally, last time they forgot the bread altogether. Despite the restaurant not being busy, I waited over 20 minutes for my meal. I noticed an employee carrying a huge stack of food for their break while paying customers, like myself, experienced reduced portion sizes. I spent $26.40 on my meal, but it was not worth the wait, the inadequate amount of food, or the decline in quality compared to previous visits. I'm left feeling disappointed after all these years of loyalty to this location. All I want is to receive what I pay for—nothing more, nothing less.
I enjoy Tendergreens Berkeley! I always order delivery and haven’t been disappointed once. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu—salmon, steak, short ribs, chicken, mac cheese, mashed potatoes, cookies, veggies, and their salad with goat cheese. Everything is consistently fresh and flavorful. Even when I request my steak or salmon well-done, it’s still tender and juicy. The mac cheese really surprised me—in a good way! I expected a stovetop version, but it was baked with breadcrumbs and had a nice subtle herb flavor. So good! Their family meal is a lifesaver—it helps me prep dinner for the next 2–3 days and feeds my family of 3 comfortably. Today I wanted a little something extra: the short rib sauce with my mashed potatoes, even though I wasn’t ordering the short ribs. I called the store, and the representative who helped me was super polite and helpful. She even checked if they could include the sauce and made it happen—no fuss. I completed my order online , and when my food arrived—bam, the sauce was there! Shoutout to the Tendergreens team for always coming through with good food and service.
