I'm definitely becoming a fan of these individual Taiwanese hot pots. They come with lots of food inside and a nice balance of protein and veggies with different textures! I tried the Kimchi Dumpling Hot Soup $17.99), which had nice pork slices. I thought the broth was very light in flavor though and didn't really have a strong kimchi taste. I got the medium spice level, but it wasn't really spicy and I definitely co... View all feedback.
What Janessa Runte doesn't like about Tasty Pot:
It wasn't the best hot pot I've had. While the portion/price and service was good, the flavor of the broth wasn't there. I had the lamb hotpot and the broth was very bland. I was looking for some kick in it, but I was rather disappointed. The broth was also not boiling, so it made me feel a little uncomfortable because I was conscious if my food was throughly cooked through or not. The sauces available were also lack... The food is really good nice flavor but the service is not good because you're washed the customers to pay he's no friendly and the person who attend my table he don't know what he's doing I asked for more items or require another service then he's lost other than that they could food I don't switch for another restaurantFood: 5/5
Since coming back and trying the Taiwanese spicy pot instead, this has become one of my favorite places in Berkeley for a quick hot pot fix! For 3 more dollars, their Taiwanese supreme spicy comes with instant noodles while also having soup that is significantly more flavorful! I love love love the taste of pickled veggies, and whatever else spicy paste they use in their soup is super yummy. You get a little bit of everything in the Taiwanese supreme pot, and it makes for a really filling and satisfying meal.I've also tried the Szechuan spicy pot, but do note that for this pot in particular, mild is PRETTY SPICY so if you have a sensitive stomach or cannot tolerate spice, I'd advise against the Szechuan spicy. If you're looking for more of a flavor punch, I'd recommend paying a little more for their Taiwanese spicy pots or some other item.Service is also quick and friendly; someone usually walks by and checks for water and soup refills. There is also complimentary sweet green tea for lunch, which is an added bonus. Definitely give this place a try when around! It's cute and cozy and the food is super warm, comforting, and delicious on a cold day.
Gooooood foood, love the way they served to customers. Always get more soup if you needFood: 5/5
Been here 3 times now so here's a detailed review Limited street parking so be patient, walking in it's a small restaurant but it's cozy and spacious enough to maintain privacy. I prefer to sit in the upstairs dining area. Also I might be eating this dish wrong because I ask them to not turn the hot burning coals on since I can not eat my food when it's extremely hot in temperature. Typically the fire is suppose to burn and go out itself in time but I don't enjoy eating my food that way ALTHOUGH I realize that is the way it is supposed to be eaten here which is great and I love how different cultures eat there soups. In my opinion these soups have a lot of topping but not enough noodles in even when I ordered extra noodles at an extra charge I still did not feel satisfied with the portion of noodles given for a $30 soup. Ingredients tasted very fresh and soup was delicious. Note that add ons are overly expensive for example $3 for one hard boiled egg. Also add on options are not clear enough so how many dumplings come in one order of an add on is not clear on the menu. Service is always speedy we get our soups within minutes from ordering whether it's busy or not and workers are polite and attentive. FYI all the broths seem to be pork broth and once I tried the Thai option and I was not satisfied with how it tasted very distinctive taste for me but all other broths were extremely tasty! I would probably get this one next time since it was so flavorful.
