In the four years I've lived here, I can’t believe it took me two years after graduation to finally try this restaurant. I’m honestly baffled. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST SUSHI SPOT IN BERKELEY. I absolutely love the Lion King roll, and wow, the chirashi and even the maki were incredible. Truly, this place has convinced me to move back to the Bay and settle down for good. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
We enjoyed each other's company so much that we forgot to take any pictures of our food!
The sushi here is fantastic, with high-quality fish and a great selection of rolls. However, my last visit was marred by poor service. To the waitress who seemed unsure of her role: I shouldn't have to explain this, but please try to avoid being overtly rude and arguing with customers when they ask for two extra glasses so I can share my wine with friends (who both showed you their IDs). You're in the service industry, and it's essential to be patient with customers. I understand if you don’t agree with me, but at the very least, please meet the basic expectations of your job by being respectful.
Great lil spot, authentic sushi and reasonably priced. Often sushi can be hit or miss with a roll or 2 being stellar and rest average. However this place had excellent choices of rolls. Hardly anything with mayonnaise, lots of all fish rolls with good thick pieces of tuna, albacore, etc. We will be back here again and again.
**Nikko Sushi: A Hidden Gem in Berkeley’s Culinary Scene**
Nikko Sushi has emerged as a beloved destination for Japanese cuisine in Berkeley, offering a diverse menu that includes Bento Boxes, Teriyaki, Udon, and an impressive selection of sushi rolls. Diners rave about the freshness and quality of the fish, with standout options like the Lion King roll and chirashi. Although some note that service can occasionally falter, the overall dining experience is enhanced by the generous portions and warm atmosphere. While the restaurant's decor could use a refresh, its authentic and satisfying dishes make Nikko Sushi a must-visit for sushi enthusiasts in the area.

I typically don't award a five-star rating to establishments with high prices, but the sushi here is outstanding. It seems that many of the reviews echo this sentiment...
You've altered this place; I remember there used to be more seating. It's a shame they removed it because the interior is really beautiful. I wouldn't recommend coming here.

Before the meal, they serve miso soup along with a small salad, which is a nice touch. The menu includes a variety of traditional Japanese dishes, such as Bento Boxes, Sushi, Teriyaki, Udon, Sukiyaki, and Curry, offering plenty of options to satisfy all diners. The food I tried was enjoyable, though it wasn't particularly remarkable; I've had sushi that was better elsewhere. Nevertheless, it's still a nice spot to consider if you're looking for Japanese cuisine on Shattuck.
