Had been unable to try Marugame since it opened because it was always insanely busy, but finally had a chance to try tonight. Overall, decent to really good quality of food, and for Bay Area prices are pretty affordable and cost effective. The star in myview was the tempura and the aburaage, both were quite exceptional. The udon, for the price was generous, but for me the outerpart was not quite firm enough. Still, can't argue the price and portions though!

One of the managers of this restaurant treated me and my friend to a complimentary meal, which was very nice. I am vegetarian, and enjoyed the new spicy vegan dish. The broth is very rich and flavorful. I think having more vegetables would be a nicetouch, but overall it was an excellent meal with top notch service.
