I highly recommend trying one of the lunch specials; they offer fantastic value and excellent dishes. While the flavors are generally mild and sometimes not as bold as I prefer, I appreciate that they don't use MSG to enhance the taste.

The Hunan prawns were excellent, while the combo fried rice was fairly standard. Prices were typical for this type of establishment.

I ordered and payed and left the food on the table. I think they are struggling so I was not going to ask for my money back, but I told them and they apologized. I was willing to try the food after many years had passed. Lilly's was a great restaurant (After Hunan restaurant on Sansome Street in San Francisco) but it changed hands for the worse. All the stuff they use is processed food tossed around in the woke, frozen and boiled. Avoid this restaurant. There is no excuse to make bad food in the middle of North Berkeley, by the fantastic Monterey Market. No excuse at all.

It’s a no frills place but the owners are super nice and the food is exceptional with great prices and portions! Worth checking out for sure!!!
